Hi, I’ve installed the latest update (I think) and the firewall won’t start.
Any solutions ?
Are you using AEP ?
If not, please post in the correct forum.
Yes, I am.
So, nobody to help … ? What can be causing my firewall to not start.
Can you reinstall client?
Already did repair and re-install.
Did you use the removal tool before installing avast again ?
I’ve had a couple days to try and get the Avast! Firewall to work after installing the latest Avast! Endpoint Protection Suite Plus (EPSP).
- I use the avastclear.exe everytime before I reinstall the standalone installer
- I’ve rebooted the PC many times (2-5) after each installation.
- I’ve disabled the Windows 10 Firewall.
None of the above actions make the EPSP install the Avast! Firewall.
So the Avast! business users, who pay dearly for this Avast! EP software, still do not have a working Windows 10 compatible product. We have been waiting for delivery of this Windows 10 compatible software for months. We were promised a working product by the end of December. So Avast! shall have ALL the bugs worked out of this product by the end of December or they should be issuing refunds to those businesses that have new Windows 10 clients and have no working Avast! EP product.
We have installed the new version on several W10 machines and the FW was installing and working fine.
Can you provide the Setup.log and Firewall.log from C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log?
Setup.log

I don’t seem to have a firewall log.
New Setup.log from this morning.
Like Theberge43, I have no Firewall.log file.
Attached is a copy of the C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log\Setup.log file.
I reinstalled the SOA Console (1.3.3.89) on the Windows 2012r2 server and rebooted. I confirmed the SOA was there using an IE browser on a Windows 10 client PC, logging on.
I then ran avastclear.exe on the Windows 10 PC, removing the Avast! Free Security program. Rebooted and then installed the EPSP standalone client program (8.0.1606.511), rebooting three times. The firewall never installs.
The logs of both of you, show that the ‘avast! Firewall’ service was installed on the computers and it was even the reason for reboot.
Can you confirm that this service is installed on the computers?
Can you also search the Event Viewer logs for any events containing the following strings:
aswNdisFlt
avast! Firewall
I’m not sure how to search the Event Viewer properly.
Just open Event Viewer, expand Windows Logs and select Application / System event logs.
Then you the Action > Find window to search for the strings.
Nothing.
And you don’t have the service in the MS’s Services Snap-in?
I see the registry has the entries for the avast! firewall.
The avast! Firewall service has been installed, configured for automatic startup on the Local System, but is not running. Manually starting this service results in a quick stop and the following message: “The Avast! Firewall service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.” Should be noted, I see no dependencies identified.
I don’t see any events associated with aswNdisFlt or avast! Firewall in event viewer. I checked the Device Manager for installation of Ndis driver under the Network Adapters, none are present.
Same thing here.
Like he saif, it’s there, but running the service stops.
