windows 10 update and firewall won't come on

I’ve restarted my computer numerous times does not help bring back firewall thru avast. The windows firewall seems to be working as well as all of the updates for avast are current, but I still get the warning icon on avast icon in my task bar that shows my firewall is not on and I can’ turn it on.

Any help, suggestions, support would be appreciated.

Please (re)search before posting.
It has been told many times that in case like this to perform a repair of avast.

In case the repair doesn’t solve it, perform a clean installation of avast.

Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.
