I understand Firefox for Win 7 support will end this August. I read where Avast Browser works alongside Firefox. I want to know if Avast Browser still supports Windows 7 & would it be safe to install the browser & still use Firefox OR should I look into another supported browser and remove Firefox, too?
First I don’t use the Avast Secure Browser.
I don’t know where you read that, but I think it could have been the Avast Browser Extension, when you talk about it working ‘alongside Firefox’.
If however, you are talking about the Avast Secure Browser (ASB), given it is this ASB sub-forum. Is a Chromium based browser and like other browsers it is possible to install more than one on your system. The issue is, if you are talking about the Avast Secure Browser (ASB), will Chrome and the Chromium based browsers work in Win7.
Would the chromium based ASB work with Windows 7? I want to use Avast Secure Browser if it is still supported. I mean to say- would I get periodic updates?
As an Avast User, I honestly don’t know - as I don’t use the Avast Secure Browser - nor am I running Windows 7.
I just found out that only Windows 10 and 11 is supported as far as Windows operating systems. I hope this helps someone who has the same question as I did.
Unfortunately there aren’t many software companies supporting win7 any longer.
They can’t have multiple versions of their software frozen in time and support other later OS versions. XP would also be in the firing line.
Hi, Tom!
Thank you for reaching out!
With Avast Secure Browser version 109 and later, we no longer offer support for devices running Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 due to Microsoft’s end of support for these operating systems.
Previous versions of Avast Secure Browser will continue to work, but there will be no further browser updates. We recommend using Windows 10 or later with the latest version of Avast Secure Browser to receive important security updates and features that keep you safe while browsing online.
Kind Regards,
Olga.
