I’m receiving, in some boots, the information that there is no antispyware protection and that I should enable Windows Defender.
When I open avast interface, mail shield, web shield and the antispam are starting, but the resident shield is no.
Is there a way to correct this message?
Is there a way to delay the Windows 7 checking for the antispyware protection a lit bit longer?
if i remember correctly, RED BUTTON will kill windows defender for good. Be careful what you select the program to do, or you could hose your windows install
FWIW, Tech, I’m running Win7x64 with Avast5 AV free ed and disabled/stopped Win Defender in Start, Admin Tools, Services. My Action Center shows “Multiple antispyware report they are turned on” listing out Avast-on, Comodo-on and Windows Defender-off. I never get the message about no antispyware you mention. I turned off Defender because I just assumed there might be conflicts when I installed the new Avast5 with built in antispyware. I know some say you can run the two concurrently but I just don’t like to run two realtime AS’s concurrently.
Did you try a reinstall of avast! ? Maybe you could try FixWin(have a look at the system tools section) and try the action center fix before you try a reinstall. Could help, i don’t know, action center detecting avast! just fine over here. Give it a shot.
If I was you I’d try a clean install of - Avast 5
Vista
You can’t actually uninstall Windows Defender
However!
You can switch… Windows Defender - OFF
Can’t Remember Completely :
But… 1) Open Windows Defender 2) Look For It’s - Settings … Options - or - Tools … Something Like That!
Then… Look To - Untick! 3) Real Time Protection ( This would leave you still receiving Windows Defender updates and On Demand scans )
And Also Maybe… Untick! 4) Use Windows Defender ( Windows Defender … Knocked Out Cold ) ;D 5) Remember To Click… Save - Apply - OK … Whatever!
Tip!
When you get into the - Windows Defender Settings … It might first appear as though there are only a few ???
Look at the side of the window… You Can Scroll Down!
And it’s only then you will find loads of settings for Windows Defender
Note!
I still use Windows Defender along with Avast 5 … No Problem!
Sometimes it takes a few boots, i know it sounds strange but a few people reported it took them a few reboots before wsc started to detect again. Other than suggesting a re-install of avast i’m out of ideas.
Hi Tech ! You can remove windows defender services by utility form Microsoft called instsrv.exe
in Windows Server 2003 ResKit however you cannot install Windows Server 2003 ResKit on windows 7 , I Installed it on windows XP and backup it , you can download and use ! i attached bat file , you just run DiasableWindowsDefender.bat .
Note: Scan my file share for you before run it !
Content’s DiasableWindowsDefender.bat
@echo off
title "Remove Windows Defender Services"
net stop WinDefend
instsrv.exe WinDefend REMOVE
pause
soccon1985, thanks… but too risky.
I just uninstall avast and install again.
I HATE to do it… lose all my personal scannings, settings, etc. It’s a pain…
