For the last few days my PC has become slow sand beginning to freeze but I have run both an Avast boot time scan and both MalwareBytes Anti Malware and antirootkit scans. Nothing really seems to help…Any advice?

Maybe you need to defrag your drive or clean it up.
Search for disk defragmenter and Disk Cleanup i believe its called in english and let them run.
Maybe some programs are running in background that need to be cut down.
I do that quite often actually. I ran an OTL log if you would like to see it.

Hopefully got it all.
The logs look clean … None of the usual suspects like adware.
Do you clear the temporary folders regularly ?
Clear Cache/Temp Files
Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop
[*] Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
[*]It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
[*]Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
[*]Once it’s finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.
Everything was cleaned and the PC seems to be in better shape.

Today it seemed sluggish at work and when I returned home.
Do you have IE and other browsers set to clear the temporary files on exit ?
I just looked and saw nothing about on exit …I have it set to every day with Chrome. Also, Starting it in Windows 8 mode seems faster then desktop but unsure why.
What shell do you use to get to desktop mode ?
