So I was taken by a suprise here, but by doing a bit research, I found out that OpenCandy gets installed along with several other programs, such as Audacity and so on.
So first thing I did was scan with Avast/Malwarebytes and none found any results.
It appears that only my Windows Defender picks it up.
What action should I take? Should I delete the folder, try to get rid of it through Windows Defender or just ignore it?
It was connected to Nitro PDF Reader, which I have no use of whatsoever, so I uninstalled it and let the Windows Defender delete this OpenCandy as well.
As long as it doesnt bug me with more detections, and as long as Avast/Malwayrebytes doesnt detect it either, then I say this one is done and gone hopefully
Hi. My name is Adrian, and I’m one of the founders at OpenCandy and was involved with the design of the OpenCandy software, system, and policies.
Microsoft’s security products, including Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Defender, recommend that you take the action of “allow” if you trust the software developer behind the software. You can dismiss the alert and continue to use the great software you downloaded by performing the following steps:
Select the “Allow” option in the “Action” drop-down menu
Click the “Apply actions” button
You will not see the alert again, you can continue to freely use the software you downloaded, and your computer remains safe and secure.
