Windows defender trying to update after last Avast update

I installed the latest Avast update a few days back (not sure how long) anyways now Windows Defender which has been disabled since I bought this computer last Black Friday is trying to update.

Defender has been trying to update which of course it can not do since it has been disabled since day 1. Any chance Avast might be to blame changing some setting or another.

Windows 8.1 updated to present…HP Laptop. My Dell Desktop with 8.1 does not do this It is also running Avast free.

I had exactly the same occur when I updated Avast. If you click on ‘Check for updates’ again, Defender update should disappear.

Thanks for your reply Hedgie, but that did not happen. Defender updates keep on coming which forced me to me shut off the Windows update and only turning it on on the second Tuesday of each month.
