Windows doesn't recognize avast!

Hello
My system is WXP Home SP2,upgraded.
A new problem: avast! is running, but the Windows Security Center says that no antivirus is running!
I switched off,on and off and on!No change:security center says that there is no antivirus.
Before,avast! was recognized by Windows.
Thank to help me.

Whilst this isn’t a problem if you know avast is working, it is a pain in the rear. You can if you wish disable this check, but I’m sure you would rather have it working. It isn’t easy to pin down why this happens so we will try to ensure that avast is totally 100%.

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.
If that doesn’t work, download the latest version of avast from the web site and try, uninstall, reboot, install latest download, reboot.

I tried all:repair and reinstalling. It’s always the same.
What can I do?

It will be good to check the date and time of your computer too.

La date et l’heure sont correctes.
Evidemment,je pourrais supprimer l’alerte, mais celà ne me dit pas pourquoi Windows ne reconnait plus avast! Antivirus.

Date and time are correct.
It is possible to desable the Windows Security Center announcement. But I would like to know why Windows doesn’t recognize avast! Antivirus anymore.

Is ashserv.exe running in background?
Did you have, in the past, any other antivirus in this computer/

ashserv.exe i running.
I nad Norton Internet Security, but I uninstall it cleanly because Norton leaves so many files and so many register keys.
I would like to know how this happened and how to repair it.
Before,avast! was recognized.
Thank you for your help.

Hello.
Is there somebody to help me?

There is always somebody in avast forums ;D

WinXP SP2 Security Centre & avast

I found this in forums:
1) Make sure you are an administrator on the machine you want to enable it on
2) Go to Start > Run. Type in gpedit.msc hit enter/click ‘Ok’
3) Go to Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Securitry Centre.
4) Double click on 'Turn on Security Centre (Domain PCs only). Select ‘Enabled’. Click Ok.
5) Close, reboot. Done. When you open the security centre, it’ll actually contain useful information.

Will it help you?

A new thing: gpedit is alreqdy installed on my computer, but now,it does’nt want to start. It says “fail to create”.
I dont kow what happens.

hi can you try “hitman pro”. my avast was not recognized also but after removing all suspicous spyware/adware the scanner was recognized correctly!

Hello.
Windows was corrupted.I have reinstalled it and now it recognizes and manages avast antivirus. gpedit is also operating.
Thank you.

Hello.
I did not find the security centre in gpedit.msc.

Strange… I have there (Win XP SP2, of course, Professional).

Bonjour.
Merci.

Hello.
I’m sorry:I wrote in french.So…
I hace only the Home version of WXP.I saw, somewhere, that gpedit was not completely operating under Home version. It seems to be true.
By always, the problem with security center is resolved.A problem with an usb2 driver for PCMCIA cardbus, witch operates sometimes with instability, seems to be better, too.
