Windows firewall blocking update?

hi i have the latest edition of avast free and im sure windows firewall is blocking iit from updating i have set firewall to block outgoing connections and put avast has an exception not to be blocked to be sure i added all the exe file that were in the avast folder has well, but have noticed if i going into avast - maintenace - update and click on program or database i get an error message saying cant connect to servers, it did not do this before i changed the firewall settings.

can anyone help thanks

Did you exclude avastsvc? ???

avastsvc is required for avast to receive vps updates.

yeah i’ve set avastsvc not to be blocked

Please report back your results.

still not working in the update window it says connection not established, cloud update isnt connected, but when i set firewall to allow outgoing connections it works so sommething else is blocking it, has i have set it to not be blocked

Try GUI>Settings>Updates>Proxy Settings>Direct Connection (no proxy)

was already set to Direct Connection still the same should i just try deleing all avast entrys from the firewall and start again

That just might be the only option left. This is so puzzling.
Try using default settings on your Windows Firewall.
You really shouldn’t have to change any settings in the WinFirewall as it works well with avast.

Will try that i read the firewall is more secure with outbound connections blocked does anyone know if its ok just to leave it on default outbound connection allowed i also have a nat firewall in my router as well

got it working now played around with the outbound settings and got avast updating now
