Windows Security Center Servise help please (SOLVED)

Hello!
Recently, on my laptop, I think after some manipulations with CCleaner, my Windows Security Center Servise looks like to be turned off. :o
Is there some way to to turn in back on?
Thanks in advance, take care,
Rostik.

Do you mean you can’t find it at all,or just that there are no alerts ? If you can find and open it,under resources, click ’ change the way security centre alerts me ’ and make sure all three boxes are checked.

;D

CCleaner CAN be dangerous to the health of one’s computer, especially IF
its “Issues” section ( a registry cleaner ) “recomendations” are done .

I’ve never had any problems with CCleaner that I know of. I’ve always thought of CCleaner as a safe registry cleaner. What should I be aware of that CCleaner detects?

Possibly so,and not worth the risk IMO,but I believe it asks if you want to back up the registry deletions, to your documents. These can then be put back where they came from, by double clicking them if needed.I don’t know what is meant by ’ manipulations with CCleaner '.Theres not a lot to do with the program, its pretty basic.

I can’t see anything in the Issue Scanning Settings, Registry Integrity or File Integrity that might have an interaction with the windows security center. Most of the issues returned for me relate to unused file extensions.

The ccleaner is pretty lightweight when it comes to registry cleaning, which is why I use a specialist registry that goes much deeper. Users should check what is returned rather than blindly click Fix selected issues… and only have those which would be considered safe and that implies you know what you are doing.

CCleaner also backs up your changes, unless you stupidly chose not to save the changes and when you go to fix the selected issues you can step through them one at a time (don’t select "Fix All Selected Issues), so you have a hint of what it is and can back out (Close). This takes you back and there you can deselect those you don’t want to fix.

So there is some ability to recover from the changes you made, so I suggest that avatar2005 could restore the back-up of the changes he made.

Hi & thanks for reply!
The problem is the above option is inactive (grey) :-\

I never had troubles with CCleaner registry cleaner tool. It’s very basic, not a deep or aggressive one. Besides, there is the backup/restore feature.

I’ve just read this,it might help>
Go to Start/Run and enter command “Services.msc” without the quotes. Scroll down to “Security Center” and either click on “Restart the Service” in the upper left hand corner or double click on it and under “Start-Up type” make it automatic.

Thanks micky77 8) , I’ll try to do so when came back home.

Thanks everyone. Problem solved thread to close

Oopss… some malware change the WSC settings… is your computer clean?

well, I hope so, At least today’s check showd nothing suspitious

How did you scan your system? With which applications?

Avast of course 8)
P.S.
Now all services are operationall & back to normall

I suggest the use of AVG Antispyware; SUPERantispyware and/or Spyware Terminator to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete than.

I would reorder the suggestion SAS, AVG-AS and then ST.

I feel AVG-AS simply isn’t keeping up and SAS has better detections, you only have to look at the more detailed malware removal topics in the Viruses & Worms forum. The only reason I don’t put ST before AVG-AS is because it is a Resident anti-spyware, and AVG-AS is resident during the 30 day trial.

I just made afull scan with AVG-AS and a-squared free 3.1, and both of them showed nothing suspirious.

Although this topic isn’t malware related so it is unlikely to find anything other than the usual cookies, bit of a waste and often over hyped as a serious issue.

So what would really be interesting (more so for me, than someone with a possible infection) would be, if an infection is suspected is to run those two, followed by SAS. However, not wanting to wish an infection on anyone to test a theory, I take the advice of those regularly cleaning up infected systems. essexboy, oldman and mouserme often there first tool is SAS because of its better performance.

backing up a few posts above… Now I recall, that I have manually throw away the WSCS from startup :stuck_out_tongue:
