Windows security centre problem?

I’m having a problem with my windows security centre. Everytime I boot up my computer i get an error message saying that my windows security centre is turned off. Then sometimes after that, i get another error saying some of my anti spyware programs are off and it says that avast is turned off even if it is attually turned on.

I’m not sure weather it is a virus turning it off or if its just something wrong with my computer. Any help?

welcome to the forum. it sounds like you have been hit by something nasty there.

i would suggest you try to do a scan with malwarebytes antimalware and see if that comes up with anything and please post that result here aswell.

second please do a scan with OTL and post the result here so one of malware expert here can have a look on it.

http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTL.exe

Download OTL to your desktop.
Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed to let it run uninterrupted.
When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
Under the Standard Registry box change it to All.
Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply.

good luck

Heres the malwarebytes log and it found 3 things:

I dont know why but I couldnt seem to get OTL to work properly. I followed what you said but it keeps freezing throughout the scan and gets stuck.

Ok well the program unfroze and i got the log but it was too long to post so im not sure how to post it.

I would suggest that you start this process from scratch (with exception to running MBAM again) as the instructions given for OTL are essentially incomplete. With all due respect to mikaelrask all complex malware analysis/removal should only be conducted under the guidance of a qualified malware removal specialist.

So this needs further analysis by a malware removal specialist:
Go to this topic http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0 for information on Logs to assist in cleaning malware. Use the information about getting and using the tools and attach the logs here, not in the LOGS topic.

Look down below left-hand corner, “Attachments and other options” click that, and attach all logs here, not in the LOGS forum. Note that the following types of files can be attached: .txt, .jpg, .gif, .png, .log. and that there is a total attachment size of 200KB.

You will only see the Attachments and other options when posting in your thread.

Use this to run programs requested: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0 However, it might be best to wait for a qualified malware expert to arrive before running any programs.

Go ahead and attach the OTL log below.

+1 DavidR the information i left was maybe incomplete. I should leave this to the expert from here on

Yes, I always refer them to essexboy’s instruction topic, that way they always get the latest update of the instructions to keep pace with malware developments.
