I just installed Vista today and it will not run avast. I have now deleted avast and am doing a complete reinstall to see if this fixes my problem. Any ideas incase it doesent?

If you did an upgrade install over win2k or winXP rather than a clean install, then yes you need to reinstall (uninstall, boot, install, boot) avast so that it will the drivers for vista, etc.

The same would have been true if you were upgrading from win98 to winXP when switching OS you need to reinstall avast.

Thanks for the info David, I was wondering about this myself.

OSX vs VISTA

;D

 Good pictures.

Anone know if vista will have the “Compatibility Mode” like XP did so I can run older DOS and Win9x games?

I just read a piece yesterday and it has compatibility mode for XP certainly but I don’t know if it will have compatibility mode for win98 or earlier like XP did.

In the Beta version there was the function of running a programme (including installation) in WINXP SP2 mode but there is nothing for WIN9x. To access it before you run the install programme right click and select properties there is a compatibility tab. It does work because there are no Vista drivers for my modem yet

Well at least for now that means I will stick with XP. I only play games on my PC anyway
