I have been on the phone with Avast techs all day today, I explained the problem, and I agreed to pay for the Avast 365 tech program, near $200, I have had three techs work on this problem with them controlling my PC. They claimed my registry was badly corrupted on the first call, so they spent 2 to 3 hours “fixing” it. When turned over to me, same problem with Avast not starting. When I open Avast it says all is OK. The second tech started to get into it on-line, but I lost telephone contact. The third tech, spent much time doing what the first tech did. The problem is still there. By the way, I lost telephone contact a second time. When I call back, I get a different tech (3 of them now). There must be a way that they can call me back instead of me having to explain the problem all over again to the newest tech I call. By now I am starting to lose faith in the techs fixing the problem. Everything else seems to work except for Avast not starting according to Microsoft Windows. I finally uninstalled Avast, and installed the Windows 7 Anti-Virus program. Guess what? The problem cleared up. I re-installed Avast after uninstalling Windows Anti-virus, and guess what? The problem came back. I now have gone back to the Windows program. Please, can somebody help me, and if not, refund my $195 and let me take it to a local repair shop?
