Windows XP infected...malicious url blocked...tried many things.

Hi,
I have a computer I am trying to fix. I ran malware bytes, ccleaner, combofix, adaware and scanned with avast. I can’t find any infections anymore but avast keeps blocking malicious url’s quite often. I can include the hijack this log and the combofix log. Please help and thank you very much in advance. I look forward to finding out where this is hiding. If there is anything else you need I will be glad to provide it.

Please attach your logs. (AdwCleaner, MBAM, OTL and aswMBR…!!)

Here is everything but rogue killer and adw, which I will attach in the next post.

here is the RK and the adw, I believe the r1.txt is the second one I did after i cleaned it out with adk the first time. Also after running all of these I am still getting the blocked pop up problem.

hi leethedeuce,

If you can attach a .jpeg of the url:mal warning box that would help here.

the urls are all different about 11 of them total but its svchost on all of them i believe. I copied two for you in the hopes that will help even more. Does that mean all those log files didn’t help?

Thank you for that.

Have notified a malware expert to come and assist you. As it is Saturday here, should see someone soon.

As I am only an user here, I cannot assist you with the actual cleansing of your system. The logs are needed for the expert to look over, and once that is done, he will propose the next steps for you. Be aware the cleansing process is designed only for you and no one else, so this is a custom-made fix. Do no harm to a victim’s computer is the standard we go by here.

Not overly happy with the MBR

Download the latest version of TDSSKiller from here and save it to your Desktop.

[*]If malicious objects are found, they will show in the Scan results and offer three (3) options.
[*]Ensure Cure is selected, then click Continue => Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.

[*]Get the report by selecting Reports

[*]Note: If Cure is not available, please choose Skip instead, do not choose Delete unless instructed.

Please copy and paste its contents on your next reply.

One thing I didn’t see what cure. I forgot to double check for that but it did clean the 4 things it found and didn’t find them again after the reboot, so hopefully that is a good sign. the report is attached as well.

How is the computer behaving now ?

I was on it for about 10 minutes after I ran that and didni’t get any pop ups. But I did have to leave so gong to try it for a little longer but looking hopeful so far

OK let me know when you are happy

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Run OTL
[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

:Commands [resethosts] [emptytemp] [CLEARALLRESTOREPOINTS] [Reboot]

[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done

Remove ComboFix
[*]Hold down the Windows key + R on your keyboard. This will display the Run dialogue box
[*]In the Run box, type in ComboFix /Uninstall
(Notice the space between the “x” and “/”)
then click OK

[]Follow the prompts on the screen
[
]A message should appear confirming that ComboFix was uninstalled

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that
[*]Click Start.
[*]Open My Computer.
[*]Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
[*]Select the View Tab.
[*]Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
[]Click Yes to confirm.
[
]Click OK.
