OK… “faster” in which way ?
Accessing files, copying files, transferring over network, simple opening windows… what is actually that is noticeable faster than previous SPs ?
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has benchmarked the performance differences on his blog (and found “nothing to write home about”.
Those who believed that Windows XP Service Pack 3 would provide the aging OS with a performance boost may well be disappointed. My benchmark tests show that the application of XP SP3 makes negligible difference to system performance.
Speed improvement is only one of the reasons for updating your system.
Security improvements to me are much more important and should be your main reason
for updating Windows XP to the latest version.
Exactly! But even if SP3 makes XP running a bit slower than with SP2 installed, it will still be faster than Vista. XP runs lightning fast on my laptop (ditched Vista finally), and I am looking forward to SP3 just because of all security add-ons. I am aware that it won’t bring us any cosmetic or significant performance changes, but at least running XP will be more secure than before.
got the warning also with WOT-was using the good ol’ IE yesterday when i used it :
good news damian they didn’t release it today with having some issues
