I use WinPatrol WAR in addition to Avast Pro. I wonder if it will be necessary once Avast completes the integration of the behavior analysis component? I’m not even certain if it’s necessary without the integration. The reason I ask is that I don’t care to add a bunch of different layers if I don’t need to. It saves time from having to figure out why something quirky is happening. I have spent hours and hours trying different software and at the same time spent hours trying to diagnose problems. I’m just not much into the whole trial and error effort anymore. Also, each time I try to install software without turning off WAR it shows me a warning, something like, “Performed a Ransomware/Malware like action. (###)”, which gets annoying.
I use WinPatrol as a convenient tool, not really a security one nowadays. It allows me to manage startup items and services… But on security, what is it really adding to Avast?
Misunderstand the product. Sorry :
Last week we had a presentation from the guys of AV-Comparatives, that’s how I know.
They tested against 200 Ransomwares.
When they are going to publish it, I don’t know.
