Hi there,
I followed the instructions in the mini sticky here, but it seems that gmail won’t let me email exes, even if they are zipped and password protected.
Any ideas how to submit this file to avast?
Thanks,
Charles

Thanks.
Hi,
You can add the file to chest and then submit from there. Open avast GUI and select the Maintenance tab, select Virus chest. Right click in the empty space and click add.
Browse for the file (You might want to enable show hidden files in windows explorer options menu) and click open.
Now select the file added to chest and click submit to virus lab. Follow the onscreen instructions.
If you password protect and zip with 7zip then Gmail will let you send http://filehippo.com/download_7zip_32/
Adding on,
You have to select ‘encrypt file names’ option and use .7z compression method.
Thanks for the info. I scanned it this morning and it passed with no problems.
OT Thanks for that tip, I tried it and it works.
@ nmb, I used 7z method but did not have to check mark Encrypt file names.
Hello,
changing extension “.exe” to i.e. “.dat” before making password protected archive helps to avoid this problem.
