I have version 23.5.6066 (build 23.5.8195.784).
Now, as title indicated, newest update almost always opens up one additional website that wants me to install Avast security addon or whatever that is.
Why? It never happened before and this sort of thing makes me want to uninstall Avast completely.
How do I turn it off? Thanks

I think so, this should be fixed ASAP. It is very annoying that it is happening.
Outside my powers as an Avast User.
Keep monitoring or even post to it, that way you can get notifications.
Or use the Notify button at the top and bottom of the page, to be notified when there is activity on that topic.
Actually not, it is not same thing - plugin, it is some official Avast Security plugin that Avast wants me to install.
I get that plugin install page every so often in Firefox (or an Avast plugin, if not this one). It opens in a new tab when starting the browser. Very annoying and unwanted.
It seems it now gets pushed a lot more. I’m not going to install 23.5 until these issues are resolved.
Same here, using Opera browser. Annoying for sure.
Reported in another topic. Anyhow, I’m having the same annoying issue. On top of this, if you check your registry (regedit), you’ll notice that it contains one or more Chinese entries with the description as “browser extension”. >:(
