wmplayer.exe

hi. my pc is infected with a virus/worm that places a file wmplayer.exe to removable disks which i can’t delete. its icon is similar with the windows media player… it also executes a process wmplayer.exe… during scan the avast anti-virus can’t detect it… how can i solve this problem?

PS when i scan the whole system… a certain UPX is browsed over by the scanner.
some of my friends say that it is the source of the virus, im not sure if its correct info though

Hi tochi2,

Try these scanners:

http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/

http://download.drweb.com/drweb+cureit/

http://www.ewido.net/en/

If non of those detect it, try some online scans: F-Secure, Trend Micro, Bitdefender, Kaspersky, Panda (but disable avast! before running Panda or alarm bells will go off!)

Scroll down to Online disk scanning.

Can you send the samples to virus@avast.com ?
You can zip and password the files… Inform a link to this thread and the password used.
Thanks.

It will be good if you download, install, update and run other trojan remover tools: a-squared and/or Free AVG Antispyware (trojan removers). Some users recommend SUPERantispyware or Spyware Terminator.
