Won't start running

For what ever reason I have NO idea why. Avast just shut down, it turned off and I can’t start it up??? Any one have ANY ideas??? ???

We will need more information to be able to help you:

  • Which OS are you using? Is it up to date?
  • What avast! version?
  • Do you use a firewall? Which one?
  • Do you have any other antivirus installed in your system? Did you have in the past?
  • Any other security programs that could interfere?
  • What happens if you try to run ashSimp2.exe from avast folder?

It’s just that avast does run on auto. All the time and I don’t know why??

I didn’t get you on the “run on auto” thing, but if AVAST Service is shut of in your MSCONFIG (start/run/MSCONFIG), then the program won’t start. It happenned for me for AVG antispyware and Adaware. Then, you should try to understand why it is shut down, as it should be ON normally. Only solution then, I think, would be a clean installation.
