won't stop scanning

Avast won’t stop scanning C:\Program Files\NETGEAR\WNA1000M\WNA1000M.exe (per “Realtime data” → “Last scanned items”)

The last thing I did…

The PC was connected to the internet via a RJ cable to the modem. While the box was up and running, the cable was disconnected and the netgear wireless usb installed. The box switched over (automatically) to the wireless mode. Since then (including reboot) Avast hasn’t stopped scanning the above file.

Ideas? (will be reinstalling Avast and running malware in the interim)

Thank you in advance.

Uninstalled and installed latest Avast app. Ran deep scan with malwarebytes.
Avast is still scanning.

Hello! What antivirus software did you use before Avast?

Only have used Avast…

Pulled the wireless adapter - network shut down and Avast stopped.
Installed the network cable - network backup and Avast is quiet now.
With a cabled network I downed the box, removed the network cable and installed the wireless adapter. When powered up, wireless network connected and Avast started scanning again.

Is there another virus protection that you can recommend? I hear Norton all the time. I’ll do the network by cable for a while and let this post age. I can’t think of anything else to do but try another virus checker.

Thanks

I can't think of anything else to do but try another virus checker.
what about posting diagnostic logs first ?

Rookie here.

I’m looking in the “General” tab, and under section “LOGS”. “Enable debug logging” is not checked. It is now. I will reboot and do a complete scan… and then try and find this log.

Good idea that. Thank you.

First of all, you should post dianostic logs first as stated by Pondus. Follow these steps mentioned here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0.

I ran Avast’s , Sybot’s and Malwarebytes complete scan’s. There is nothing to find. I attach the malware log below. I think this is a compatibility issue between Avast and Netgear. I post this for others. I’m moving on to another virus checker. I consider this thread CLOSED. Thank you for your assistance.
