www.avast.com closes browser

Anytime I enter www.avast.com in my browser address field and hit enter, my browser closes. This occurs in both IE 6.0 and Netscape 7.1. I’m running a Dell Dimension with Windows XP.

Hi,

  • have you emptied T.I.F. = IE-Cache, incl. OFFLINE files and TEMP-folders ?

  • other websites work normally ?

  • have you run a complete AV-Scan ? with avast or other Scanners, e.g. Onlinescanners from Trend (see below) and www.ravantivirus.com

  • please post the contents of your Host(s)-file(s) to see if their is some misguided redirection (Search your HD with WindowsExplorer)

  • spybot, ad-aware and cwshredder might also help
    if you still can’t remove it, you could post a logfile of Hijackthis here
