YAHOO MESSENGER MALWARE

At times when i log into yahoo messenger i get a prompt from avast about html:malware-gen located in the temporary internet files folder…looks like the messenger ads are running some malicious script…

this happens frequently

Is anybody else experiencing the same

Ive not gotten any alerts yet and I use messenger everyday… I’ll keep a eye out though

Can you send the temporary files to virus @ avast.com ?
You can zip and password the files… Inform a link to this thread and the password used.
You can send the files to Chest and, from there, resend to Alwil for analysis.
Thanks.

yeah i’ll do that…as of now i am not getting the prompt any more…

So, probably, it was a false positive corrected by the last vps update.

Its back again…after a long time…this time its vbs:malware-gen…it comes out of 2/5 when i log into yahoo messenger.Don’t know whats triggering it,coz a boot scan revealed nothing. Im using avast 4.8 with 080718-1 VPS.Maybe its a false postive conflicting with the yahoo ad. service? Have u guys experienced something similar.

I scanned Yahoo Messenger, no longer detected as Malware-gen. False positive must been fixed in 080719-0.
