I’ve tried several firewalls, but I guess my favorite right now is Comodo with Def+
ZoneAlarm is quiet, but basic, Outpost had too many confusing pop-ups, as well as PC Tools. The main reason I like Comodo is because Def+ is supposed to be really good, but I’ve considered Online Armor, but I’m not sure if its HIPS is as good as Comodo’s. I would like to switch because of the certificate fiasco, but the protection is too good.
Outpost by Agnitum and then Online Armor
Avast Internet Security. Not the most advanced one for sure but enough for my needs.
Online armor for me, extremely easy to use light on resources, strong firewall with a great hip’s.
Privatefirewall would be my second choice, it’s even lighter on the resouces but the usability isnt quite as good as online armor
Avast Internet Security
Comodo with def+ then Online Armor, then Outpost then PC Tools firewall+
I use Comodo without defence plus. I grew totally disenchanted with any form of HIPS.
I tried: PC Tools, Comodo, Outpost, and ZoneAlarm
And this is my conclusion:
ALL of them were a waste of time, resources and junk in my laptop (With the exception on ZA latest version, was the less bad. But its predecessor was a horrible experience). Having compatibility and connections problems, of course, and slowdowns in the connection speed. And the worst of all, I could not connect to my printer.
Arrrg! finally, I prefer Windows Firewall. WF does the same job as the other ones, but better. And if you have the knowledge using WF Advance settings, is better than whatever other third firewall.
Don’t fall in a fake review or opinions of any firewall from anyone on the Internet. Remember; they were written in their experience and NOT in yours. In my case, they (FW mentioned above) was my experience.
+1
I have it on three of my computers. I’m satisfied.
I use the Silent Firewall in the Avast Internet Security suite. It is user friendly and it has a nice GUI, it quietly does its job without user intervention, and it has good reviews.
Mind is Comodo Firewall v5.0.162636.1135 using Proactive Security Mode settings are
PS. It very easy to operated it not that hard the only problem that most people are having is they don’t fully understand how Comodo Firewall works, it not just a plain old simple match box cars firewall their are 4 different main security settings in one Comodo firewall software. You can still run the old plain style firewall just turn off Defense+/Sandbox/Cloud that all.
AIS Firewall where installed, Windows Firewall where not. (Except one really old Win95 machine with Tiny Personal Firewall 2.0.15 A - but that’s probably not the kind of thing you’re asking about, is it? ;D)
Windows (XP) firewall.
I’ve used a few different firewalls in the past, and repeat malware scans never turn up anything.
Do you have a software that monitored the outbound traffic if you’re still currently using the Windows (XP) firewall.

Not any more.
@ SpeedyPC,
OA does. I use OA Premium. I’m not sure if the Free version has it also, but I think it does, and I use XP as well. I can monitor IP addresses, speed (up/download), country or origin, etc.). It is in a separate toolbar from the OA GUI.
