I have ZoneAlarm Free and Avast! 4.9 Free.
I have compatibility issues, and tried almost every trick in the book to make the combination work.
I really don`t want to give up ZoneAlarm nor Avast!
Please, can you help me?

I presume that it is 4.8 you are talking about, as there is no 4.9…
For someone to be able to help you better, could you provide us with a little more info? (i.e What are the compatability issues?)

This Iis only a suggestion for you try Online Armor Free , http://www.tallemu.com/products-online-armor-free.php There is no compatibility issues using it with Avast and its rated higher as a firewall In leaktests.
Yes, sorry it is 4.8.
The problems is that when windows starts the computers freezes. (I have Vista 32bit). I did some research and found compatibility issues between the two.
I uninstalled the WebShield of Avast! but no luck…

Well, I’m not too sure, but it could be because of remnants of previous AV installations
What antivirus did you have before avast!? How was it removed?
Does it still happen if you disable ZA on startup?

I am currently using this combination. Try not to autostart Zonealarm on boot up and see what happens?
I have found the problem. It is ZoneAlarm on its own causing the problem. Will look into that. Thank you!
I prefer to use other free firewall, like Outpost Free or PC Tools Firewall
ZA used to be the number one in Free FWs. However, their Free FW has slacked. OA, OP and PCTFWP have eventually over taken it. Better use either of the three.

I too used ZA for long before shifting.
Heard a lot of praise for Online Armor (though not used it ever myself). I myself am using Comodo firewall (with defense+ HIPS component).
