I was one of those plagued by the “stopping at 99%” GUI error until the recent build, but now I’ve got a different problem: when I click on the Details button, either in the pop-up notification or in the notifications list, the completed scan starts over. This has happened with both Quick Scan and Full Scan. I am only able to view the details by going into Protection > Antivirus - Scan History and selecting the relevant scan report.
So far, I have tried repairing the installation, uninstalling and reinstalling, and then repairing THAT installation; the problem persists. (This is on Windows 10.) Is this a known bug, or am I just lucky?
In my case, the pop up shows at the very beginning of the scan… says the scan has completed, no issues found, click on details and it’s on 0% (because the scan just started)
I previously posted about this here too. 0% shows when opening notifications indicating it is starting the scan again. I thought doing a repair fixed it, but it started doing it again. So this is a bug that apparently has not been fixed.
I just noticed this too. Clicking details just restarts the scan. Even if the scan is half a year old, so from previous versions.
Also very weird: if I do a scan of a file or folder, it often shows me two notifications for one scan. By the way: if the scan hasn’t found anything, I could do without a notification. I saw that nothing was found, it just told me in the GUI. No need for an additional notification on top of that. That’s just clutter.
I’m certain this Details/restart issue was fixed before ?
Now it looks like they have fixed something else and broken this again. Perhaps the work they were going to be doing on the Notification Area, to supposedly make it more relevant and useful to the user.
Well, I guess if the program is free, beggars can’t be choosers. But it makes Avast look bad and will only chase potential buying customers away. I would have to presume that a paying customer would at least have a reasonable expectation that simple bugs like this would be prioritized and fixed IMMEDIATELY. Even those like us who do not pay should be entitled to a product that is bug free where the bug is something that can and should be fixed within a reasonable time.
Exactly. This new “right-click explorer scan now runs in main window” is a horrible horrible mistake from Avast. Explorer scan used to be fast and easy to dismiss. Now, I have wait the fat full-UI to load and then after the scan ends, I have to go to the notifications center and dismiss the 2 alerts of the explorer scan. WHO did design this horrible mess?!
I sometimes get it as well, “click to see details” click and away it goes to scan it all again :
So I don’t click it anymore
However, it should have been fixed by now!
