While we wait for the official thread for this update @rocksteady posted about this new update on the previous release 25.7 thread so starting a new un official thread here.

Strangely today ive just checked and got an update to 25/7 from July which i already loaded.

BUT my computer booted to bios screen this morning and F1 was the only way to get out of it and once logged in my clock was set to the time i logged out last night with yesterdays date. reset that and about to load this update.

sadly maybe time to move over to the crap windows 11 pc :frowning:

so update sucessful and now shows as 25.8

official notes just show bug fixes.

Did they fix the Chrome/Google issue?

no idea as i dont use them so not had that issue.

Users complaining they cannot renew their Avast Free Antivirus subscription since 28.8. Unable to reactivate Avast Free antivirus

Don’t know if that is intentional by Avast or a bug.

I just updated to the new version, when I restarted the computer, it kept saying that I need to renew my Avast Free, how can this be? I’ve already tried to renew it but it still shows that I’m not renewed.

Maybe good to contribute to this thread where others have reported same problem. Unable to reactivate Avast Free antivirus

I think I will stay away from v28.8 until this issue is fixed by Avast and a formal announcement of that version is posted on the forum.

I also had this problem with version 25.7 and could not reactivate free version, uninstalled and use something else for now.
