yesterday i down loaded the 4.8 professional and payed for it and interred the license key. i have been trying to get the 4.8 professional tool bar to work but it will not work. i uninstalled it to night and then reinstall the 4.8 professional and interred the license key again but the tool bar icons don’t light up i have tyred every thing i know to try but no luck. you can bring up the custom bot and check every thing in their and the icons on the tool bar light up but as soon as you close that box it is dead again its not much good with out the tool bar. i saw where some one else is having the same trouble so it must be a on going issue that needs fixing ASAP. i want to add i am running XP with service pack 3 and no other antivirus program. i did delete it in the control panel and rebooted my computer before the reinstall.
Did you dowload from here?
can you explain further (maybe some pictures)what you mean by “custom bot”, “toolbar” and icons "light up? Do you mean the enhanced/Professional user interface?

I am running windows XP & IE7 the only fire wall is the one built into IE7.their has been another virus scan on my computer but it has been deleted.the fire wall is part of IE7 operating system & can’t be deleted.the os was posted in a earlier post please read all the post I made about the trouble I am having & I see others are having the Same trouble.
I haven’t come across any issues with CA and avast after uninstalling CA. Though if they have an uninstall tool on their web site it might be worth running it, just in case.
OK i ran the avast uninstaller and the CA uninstaller and rebooted each time like you said to do but i still have the same trouble with the dash board not working as before. when you open up the little custom box and check everything it will light up the icons but they don’t do any thing but as soon as you close the box with the checks all the icons disappear. >:( ???
Its the professional 4.8 its the tool bar that I am talking about.it was down loaded from the avast website & payed for by credit card.the license key was sent to my email & I followed the link.
What tool bar no one seems to know anything about any toolbar and that is coming from Pro users. There is another topic in the forums also talking about a toolbar.
There is the same confusion with some thinking it is a fake version, which is why I asked where you got it from and your answer rules that out. But we simply don’t understand the term toolbar or dash board in relation to avast.
Re toolbar: Are you talking about the avast icon in the system tray/notification area missing, see image 1 ?
Re Dash Board: Is this (on access protection settings) what you are talking about, see image 2 and or 3 ?
Ok I payed 50.00 for something & no one knows what I am talki about so I am stupid & don’t know what I am talking about I am at work in a fork lift so I can’t tell you now but their are a row of icons at the top of a page that will light up if you check them off in a customs box just credit my credit card back & I will get off your website scents I am stupid
i think i may have figure it out its call the status bar and all the icons stay lit up all the time they just light up when you are checking different things or doing different task. :o : ;D it seems to be a mistake on my part and maybe the other person that made a post about the icons being lit up was confused also.
If you are able to do a screenshot of a) where you are making these changes and b) the status bar and icons, etc. we might have a better idea what this is about.
We aren’t trying to mess you around but we (me for sure) just can’t understand the area you are talking about.
Status bars, I usually associate with the bottom bar of a window, commonly a browser.
