AVAST FREE 12.3.2280 Activation Code/License Key

I installed AVAST FREE 12.3 on my new WINDOWS 10 PRO. I need the Activation Code or the License Key. How can I get it? Please, help me. I am happy with it, I don’t want to upgrade it.

I rather doubt you will be able to get that for win10 the current Avast program version is 25.2

You don’t need a license code for Avast Free only the paid version.

Hi, David, how are you? First of all, the AVAST Activation Code/License Key has nothing to do with the OS version. And YES, you are right, the AVAST FREE it is free, but it needs always an activation. Look to the pics below.

Why outdated 12.3 when latest version is 25.2?
You do not need an activation code for Avast Free v25.2.
You will not be able to find an activation code these days for Avast Free v12.3 if that old version required a code.
I think that is also what DavidR was trying to tell you.

As you can see, AVAST is asking me to REGISTER. And that it is the FREE version.

I am using that version because it doesn’t need to much memory, to much CPU time, it is not heavy and is working fine. The latest versions are too heavy for my taste.

Considering that even newer versions like v18.8 are having problems with registrations, I don’t surprise it didn’t work on v12.
If the fallback mechanism works as intended, Avast automatically elongates its free registration period after its expiry.

Please note v12.3 is quite old and its protection capability is limited compared to the latest one, even if virus definitions are still updated.

I used version 5 till 2020. No problems with registrations. Then I did an upgrade to version 12.3. I was using this version on my old PC’s, WIN XP and WIN 7. I did the registration for free version (12.3), no problems. Now I have another laptop, with WIN 10, again AVAST FREE 12.3. And I ended up with registration problems. The reason why I am using version 12.3 is because This verson is not hungry for memory and CPU processing time, like the newer versions. So, why change? It is working fine.

Things changes. Working well yesterday does not mean it works today, especially on online things.

Anyway the newer versions are very hungry of memory and CPU time. They slow down the laptop a lot. I already tried them. Even this version 12.3 is worst than version 5. I moved to version 12.3 because some compatibility issues with WIN 7. But I have no compatibility issues with WIN 10, only the registration. In the past, I could ask and register directly to AVAST, but not anymore. I think that they are mainly concerned with big customers (enterprise ones) instead of small and individual ones. They are forgetting that the small customers are good for testing purposes (beta programs and reliability).

Do you expect almost 10 years old software to work perfectly with latest environment? And there are newer versions, freely available. You won’t have registration problems with latest v25 versions.

Why you got troubles is just because you’re insisting to use ancient product, that’s not for Avast’s blame.

Look, the problem is not the new environment (WIN 10). The problem is that AVAST changed the registration policy. That’s all. And I have 20 years old software working very well, reliable, no bugs and fast, and no compatibility issues with WIN 10.

As I already said, online things changes daily. That’s all.

But, anyway, if you don’t want to help me, fine. May be somebody can do it. Thanks.

It isn’t a case of no one wants to help you. Avast has changed it policy on supporting old versions.

Newer versions didn’t require registration in the same way as very old versions and the avast.com infrastructure to support this is either gone or no longer functioning.

Hi, again. Can anyone provide me with an Universal Activation Code or an Universal License Key, like the previous AVAST versions have? Thanks in advance.

Somehow I don’t think you will be in luck.

The numbers of people likely to be running such an old avast version and have retained this registration would be very small.

I’m not too sure Avast would be impressed either, as you are using an unsupported version.

DavidR Leader, I understand that but, the with previous AVAST versions, before 12.3, they have an Universal Activation Code or an Universal License Key. Putting the question in another words, where can I find a list of Keys/Codes, to try? Thanks in advance.

I don’t think you can as these versions are no longer supported and the only way to register them was via the User Interface and Avast website. As in the Register Now button in your image, extract below.

I have been using Avast Free for over 20 years, back on Avast 4 and the free version update came via notifications in the program and the Avast website and your registration was renewed for another year. Slightly different from the latest version, but not having to physically input a registration key.
