I use Avast Antivirus since many years and Avast secure Browser too. Last day, i update the viruses of the anti virus and then i ask it to reboot my windows PC to make an inspection. No problems with viruses. The only problem i encounter is that i can open the avast web browser anyway.
I have tried to reinstall it many times but nothing works.
I have the last version of avast free software, as :
-version du programme : 23.10.6086(version 23.10.8563.800)
-version de la base virale : 231028-2
-Version d’interface : 1.0784
What is the problem with the browser ?
I have also tried to close avast and the firewall associated, but with the same result …

I do not have a “avast cleanup” but i have already uninstall and reinstall avast web browser many times, with administrator privileges.
But the browser doesn’t want to open anymore.
Is there any log files i can inspect to have an idea of the problem ?
I have already try to desactivate the avast antivirus and the firewall, thinking it was a filter rule somewhere into my Windows 10 pro system but i have got the same result. The browser doesn’t want to open !!!
I haven’t any idea where to search ???

Can you please check task manager when you are opening the ASB? Can you see the processes?
Also the remove tool do more complex cleanout of the Avast application so it is not the same as the basic uninstall tool. So feel free to also try it for one more reinstall.

Download the Secure Browser Removal tool from here, https://download.avastbrowser.com/avast_secure_browser_uninstall.exe
Save your Bookmarks via the Book Marks Manager if you have custom bookmarks so you can import them when you re-install.
Uninstall Secure Browser via Programs and Features - Reboot
Run the removal tool, reboot, run the installer import your favorites if you saved them.

Avast has offered a separate tool to totally remove the Secure Browser if the above instructions don’t work.

It is more complicated than only desinstalling and reinstalling the browser.
There is a problem, perhaps with some permissions and/or firewall or others, i don’t know.
I can’t show you the windows tasks because the copy/paste doesn’t work with this forum, but this is no avast secure browser task running anyway.
Unfortunately, if you fallow all deep clean guides mentioned in previous topics and if there is not even brief show of the browser process in task manager, it looks like a more deep problem with the operating system, resulting in not starting processes.

Atachment and reports are both empty directories

I have tried what you suggest me, as running avast secure browser in command line with log generation
But i don’t retreive any log file in my app data directory
I think avast secure browser is blocked by something before starting but i don’t know where is the problem.
I have looked for a file named c:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\AVAST Software\Browser\User Data\safer_debug.log
and then :
c:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\AVAST Software\Browser\User Data*.log
but nothing at all
I found the following on my system:
“C:\ProgramData\Avast Software\Avast\log\szb.log”
Don’t know if that’s the log Jiří is looking for.

same here, this started happenning yesterday!! i am a pc programmer, and technician. i even reintalled windows !! the browser installs, and then open it and don`t even appear and closes and other programs detect this issue.
surely they put some actualization that broke it.
i am so mad at this i lost pre opneded tabs i was investigating and lots of bookmarks and history, also lots of tab groups . etc
is not wrking. i even tried beta versions, older version etc. nothing works and i keep finding people on internet saying avast at a a whole is malware. i am so angry
