I fiddled with a load of settings as per the suggestions except that I couldn’t find anything called WebGuard. Is that something that’s only in the paid for version? Anyway, it seems to have calmed down now.
I’ve disabled webguard. It’s now popping up to tell me that webguard is disabled. Silent mode on or off makes no difference. I’ve had to uninstall avast until they fix this. Possibly this is related to the new “AI powered scam guard” that appeared in the latest update??
I’ll monitor this thread and reinstall when fixed.

Nothing is helping me, even the suggestions found here. This is super annoying. I guess I’ll just minimize the window for now until this gets resolved OR find a new anti-virus solution.

Same here. First time ever that I’ve had issues with Avast. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

Same here, it’s clearly an error on Avast’s side. Please fix this.
It even popped up an “Avast has been updated” even though the program has clearly not been update since 17/10!
I pay (dearly) for Premium, and I do NOT want spam ads about stupid “Scam Guardian” AI crap.

It started some 13hours ago. I keep avast engine on manual updates, so it definitely came with definitions update. There is a big suspicion arising how can a program behavior change if only definitions are updated. Avast should deal with this ASAP! I am more and more considering an alternative, since their company changed the owner. This is another drop to the full cup. There were many times I had to reinstall Avast Premium for things to start working on fresh computers. We have 70 workstations at work with Avast Premium. Can you imagine antivirus window popping on 70 computers in the same day? Rediculous. Premium. LOL.

Agree with the sentiment, Avast has been growing more irritating every passing year and I’m seriously thinking of alternatives (except f’ing Norton, they’re worse).

Avast ignores silent mode and interrupts every minute or so. I did a repair, restarted, unchecked a lot of boxes and still the problem persists. Avast/GEN needs to fix this ASAP

Same problem since 8-9 hours ago. UI keeps automatically opening itself ever 30-60 seconds without my permission. Constantly taking over my screen.

I have the same thing happening to me. It’s super annoying when I’m trying to screen record, Avast keeps popping up on top of the window I’m using. I’ve used Avast for a while and I’ve always been pretty happy with it, but I guess it’s time to go shopping around for other options.

I’ve had the same issue since turning my laptop on a couple of hours ago. I left one Avast window open and haven’t had issues for about an hour now. Don’t know if there’s a connection. I did get a note saying Avast had moved WebGuard to Scam Guardian, which I hadn’t seen before. Maybe that’s what (temporarily) fixed the problem???
