Just a thought: Maybe we could use DoNotDisturb mode and set a lot of apps to use this mode, esp. browsers, so it supresses Avast from opening the main program window?
Avast says to just uninstall for a day. They should have it fixed by then. No response when asked about protection for the day.

Wow, that’s kind of a half-baked response from Avast!. I know this is free software but there are plenty of other free options out there. Even Windows Defender by itself has gotten pretty good. Do they expect people will actually re-install or do they realize that a good number of users won’t bother?
Mine has started popping up even when minimized, and hijacking my mouse/typing as well. Guess I’ll just uninstall and… maybe reinstall, maybe not.

Adding that I am having this issue too. Please fix, AVAST keeps popping up in front of what im doing.

Until the Avast team will fix this problem, you’ll have to disable first the Scan Guardian.
The second step would be to “Ignore message” from the Status page.
You will not receive any other popups. I hope this will help you all.
They seem to have pushed a silent update because the issue is now gone. Try restarting.

If I enable the Scam Guardian, the popup still shows up, but not as often as before. So the update did not fixed the problem, at least not for me. So I will still go with the hotfix I’ve presented earlier.

The Avast help AI suggested I go to Performance / Do Not disturb mode and select browsers. We’ll see.

Same thing is happening to me. It just started today 11/6/25 and it wasn’t happening yesterday. Having the antivirus pop up every time I visit a website is extremely annoying and frustrating. I disabled the core shield permanently, which disabled the web shield, and then turned the other shields back on. Avast this is your fault. You’ve made my computer less secure with this update. I’ll turn the web shield back on when you make your antivirus stop annoying me every 10 seconds.

Glad I’m not going crazy here! Customer service lines are also clearly overwhelmed so I imagine it is system-wide. Hopefully it gets resolved soon. It is reopening just about every minute for me and I am close to uninstalling the app.

Same issue here. I didn’t have this yesterday so it must be that new ai bs causing this. I’ve been using awast since early 2000s so I’d hate to use something else, hopefully it will get fixed. I signed up just to comment lol. Good to see I’m not the only one suffering from this glitch. Seems like turning off the webshield temporarily fixed it but it’s making me nervous knowing that web surf is now unprotected. I’ll wait for a day and if not fixed, I’m gonna have to look for an alternative.

I thought there was something wrong on my end when this annoying crap kept popping up, even after I renewed. And while I’m sorry to see everyone else struggling with this, I’m so glad I’m not the only one having this problem.
Literally signed up to address this nightmare. Someone at Avast needs to get off their ass and get their shit together! SO EFFING ANNOYED.
