For sure. We pay 70 licences at work. I am already looking for serious alternatives.
Just disabling Web Guard, and Enabling Silent mode “fixed” it for me.
You only think it’s fixed, give it time ![]()
It’s been almost 24 Hrs without it popping up again.
Thst said - it sin’t really fixed - I’m browsing without web guard. Avast better fix this asap.
started yesterday. rebooted - was silent for few hours. Then started again.
i disabled all the components, silenced all the notifications.
Tried disabling avast at all - nothing helps, it keeps popping up. Very very often, less then minute.
Closing, non-closing (moving to background) - nothing helps, it moves to foreground. Moving to foreground is something absolutely unacceptable for any respectable software.
Hi THis is also happening on AVG which is a reskin of Avast apparently. But on the AVG forums there are not many people saying they have it and none seem to have premium to be able to report it so the devs seem unaware its an issue. Do we know if the devs have been fully informed and they have taken it seriously please? My boys pc is sufering and he has autism so the change is massively damaging to him. Thanks for any info thank you. Alex
PS: It coincided exactly with an update to the virus definition and an update to chrome, so it has to be one of those updates that has caused this.
Has anyone tried uninstall/reinstall yet to see if it helps (sorry if silly question)
Started yesterday for me as well. From looking on Google this has happened a few times before. Hope it gets fixed soon.
Also beginning to be an issue here. This is ridiculous. We pay through the nose for this crap? I’m seriously thinking of just installing MalwareBytes and having done.
I dont quite understand how its happening on some pcs but not others.
Its happening on my sons but not mine. They both have the same version of chrome, avg and virus pattern so why one and not the other. I guess the only difference is mones an administrator account and his is standard user.
Driving me up the wall as well. We subscribe but it is getting so annoying that I’m thinking of binning it and going to another solution.
Like many others, I’m getting the same thing, now for the second day - really annoying. The only way to stop it without losing WebShield’s protection - perhaps the most important "feature” of the product - is to minimize the window. Any suggestions of another, similar, free antivirus program to replace Avast?
If you hit Win+Tab, you can drag and drop the avast window to desktop 2 so you don’t see it when you Alt+Tab. No pop ups on desktop 1 yet for me, I’ll update if so
Do we actually know if devs truly know of the issue and are working on it officially? Thanks
To me it happens for the most when I’m surfing the web.
This issue needs to be handled, because while I’m writing an email into the web-client, or even just searching something on google, or whatever, Avast pops in foreground and takes the focus… so what I’m doing get lost.
I’m starting thinking to uninstall and just count on Windows’ default antivirus.
If I drag it to another monitor, maybe it disappears from my view, but when Avast takes the focus, I lose it from the current application I’m using, and I wouldn’t notice it.
Example: if you’re writing a text, it would stop writing, because the focus goes to Avast’s window now and then.
EDIT: also tried to create a new “Desktop”, but then it would switch to the other desktop when Avast takes the focus… it’s even worse.
That sounds awful, Avast hasn’t taken the focus on my desktop yet, I’m not sure what the difference is. I assume you have silent mode on already?
Yeah, this was the final nail in the coffin for me. Avast has been getting more and more obnoxious since it was purchased by Norton [shocked pikachu face] I’m cancelling all my subscriptions from them. Shame, it used to be a really solid product.
Obviously, always silent, only silent.
But it just popped up 3 times while I was writing this message… just to say.
I don’t know if they’ll fix this later, but it’s almost impossible to me to use the computer in this condition… so I think I’ll uninstall it for now…
Maybe I’ll be back later, if’ll know they fixed this.
I uninstalled Avast and reverted to Windows Defender. 1st download avastclear.exe to remove Avast, then restart. Defender should be enabled
Same here, even when moved to a different screen so that I can work, it is re-activating the avast window so that if I”M typing in another application, my cursor disappears because avast is now the active window. I truly cannot do ANYTHING. I had to uninstall. I cannot do work, watch a movie, or basically use my PC at this point.
