Do Avast, Firefox (optional add-on?), and Hotmail have an anti-virus scanner that scans email attachments?
-
When I ‘receive’ an email attachment, does Hotmail scan it first with its own built-in scanner (or does Hotmail only store emails) and then Avast scans it when I open/download it (or do I have to manually right-click the file and manually scan it with Avast)?
-
Since Avast’s Email Scanner (Mail Shield) is incompatible with Hotmail, what Avast feature (File System Shield?) is ‘scanning’ the attachment when I open/download it? (It cannot be the ‘Mail Shield’ because that is incompatible.) Do I have to right-click the file and manually scan it with Avast?

When I send an email attachment, does Avast (File System Shield?) scan it first (or do I have to manually scan it) and then Hotmail scans it or is it done in the reverse order?

I emailed myself a Hotmail attachment and it gives options to ‘View’ or ‘Download’ the file but there is no ‘Scanning Confirmation’ message when I choose’ ‘View’ or ‘Download’-Am I missing something?
evrything have already been answered several times in your other topics, where you now have edited and deleted your text … and now changed your forum ID
for evry answer you have 5 new questions or you refrase it, anyway you are never satisfied with the answer given
I did not ‘change’ my username in order to be hidden-I have been a user here for a while now and it was time for a username change.
My questions have ‘still’ not been addressed-Please answer each question and this will be the ‘last’ thread.
This is the only forum where I have even ‘had’ to post questions multiple times.
My questions have 'still' not been addressed-Please answer each question and this will be the 'last' thread. This you have also said/promised several times
I hope that ‘you’ never become a senior citizen who needs to have things repeated more than once.
We are being proactive by asking proactive questions in advance so that we ‘don’t’ end up with a virus-ridden computer.
We are being proactive by asking proactive questions in advance so that we 'don't' end up with a virus-ridden computer.as said a million times, evrything is autoscanned by the mail server AV and again by your computer installed AV
there is nothing you need to do, it is all automatic, i am sure you have somone in the family that can explain this for you
I still not understand ‘what’ part of Avast is automatically scanning attachments since the ‘Email Shieeld’ is non-functional in Webmail-based Email Servers.
Is the Web Shield, File Shield, or both of these Shields automatically scanning attachments?
Both.
Asyn-Thank you!
‘If’ I had a Mail Client though, then the ‘Nail Shield’ would be scanning attachments-Correct?
Yes, that’s correct.
Asyn-‘Thank you’ from the bottom of our hearts for being prompt and clear!
Lastly, I emailed myself a Hotmail attachment and it gives options to ‘View’ or ‘Download’ the file but there is no ‘Scanning Confirmation’ message when I choose’ ‘View’ or ‘Download’-Would a message only appear if the file was suspicious?
Yes.
Lastly, are uploaded files (sent by me to a receiver) scanned by the email provider then the anti-virus program (or in the reverse order) before being sent?
In reverse order.
Going back to a message only being displayed if an attachment is suspicious: If it is not a suspicious attachment, why doesn’t a message state something to the effect of ‘Avast checked this attachment and it is free of viruses?’
No, I am not referring to an email confirmation message ‘within’ an email-When I click on an attachment, why doesn’t it state a ‘clear attachment’ confirmation message at that time (Why would a message only be displayed if the attachment was suspicious?)
Please and thank you.
Only the devs can answer that.
Have an awesome night and thanks again for being so prompt and professional in your responses!
You’re welcome.
