Hello, I have an issue with smart scan, everytime I try to scan my pc it stops in 93% and my modem reset. I noticed it stops in the “weak passwords” step. Does it means avast is trying to acess my modem config to search for weak passwords reseting it? I dont think it has anything related to virus since I just bought my pc and the only programs i download were avast and chrome…
you are probably using default admin/password for router log in
eksample:
User admin: D-link
password: 1234
I’m not using the default settings, avast doesnt even say anything about weak passwords, it just stops in 93% and after that my modem resets.
Hmmm … what router / model number ?
Hmm, iirc there are one or more threads about the same.
Old ones though.
Zyxel amg1302-t15c
Is this related to compatibility problems or something more dangerous like virus?
Does it have latest firmware?
Yes, it does.
Does the firmware come from your ISP or directly from Zyxel ?
What is your ISP ?
It came from Zyxel.
I checked several Zyxel websites, but non of them have that type/model listed ???
Actually I dont know. :-
The technician who installed the router just said it was the latest version.
Several here including video, but all seems to be portuges … is it some special router for Brazil ?
I suspect the modem is from his ISP.
Only Portuguese and “the technician”…
If it is, it can very well be the same problem the routers provided by Sky had.
Installing the firmware from the manufacturer solved it.
Yeah, it’s a portuguese modem, I tried the pt forum but got no answers. So its just a firmware/config problem? I remember changing some settings because i was having ping issues with some games.
This is what i did: https://youtu.be/OJZETau7xLI 2:24
The video is in pt but i noticed he’s closing all pvc connections (??) and letting just one open.
Sorry for not posting in the correct forums and thank you for your help, I just want to make sure it has no relation to virus since I just bought this pc.
I don’t see any reason to even think it could be malware.
Is suspect the ISP’s firmware has something to do with it.
Does it reboot if you scan after resetting the router to factory default ?
Could you run a scan with Wi-Fi Inspector and see what happens?
I’ll hazard a guess you router reboots. This isn’t a malware issue.
I reseted to factory defaults and tested, it still reboots. :-\
I tried to use wifi inspector and my modem reset. Avast says there’s no issue with the modem/pc tho. I guess it just occour when avast tries to acess my router?
Would it help finding the problem trying to scan connected to a different nt wifi?
Very unlikely, as avast is scanning the router and not the WiFi connection.
Does it make a difference if you use a wire to connect and not WiFi ?
