HI Same here not only is the VBS: Malware-gen detected but Boot time scan deleted files and quarantined file in the Virus chest
I have used malicous malware removal tool I have done defender scans and other people I know using other anti-virus have no issues… Is this a False positive or is this serious… and is it another stuff up after the new program update that has caused other issues… worried and not happy…
Other people using other anti virus have found no issues on their devices???
Received threat pop up on Amazon for my cart. Same as others have mentioned. Ran Malwarebytes scan, zero threats. Ran Avast Smartscan, zero threats. Seeing the other notes here, not going to freak out and not worry about the main scan or anything else. But it was a lovely (sarcasm) thirty minutes of scanning and wondering what was happening.
Also, getting these “threat blocked” notices on the VBS:Malware-gen, but there’s ZERO sign of them in my virus chest when it tells me to go look.
then i started getting random malware-gen notifications from postgresql. I have something that is utilizing pg_notify, which causes it to write to /usr/local/var/postgres/pg_notify/0000, and it caused a infection loop to occur with Avast.
The workaround was to remove postgresql, even though its installed with homebrew. I think its a false positive with the latest defs, as prior to updating the defs this did not occur.
Defently false positives because I scanned a file on virus total and came back negative. And virus total scans with ~52 different AV virus definitions.
False positives here too. I did a full scan before I found out that these were false positives and it claimed over 150 of my files were infected. I clicked “Fix Automatically” and it sent most of the files to the chest and the others were marked for deletion at the next reboot. I held off on rebooting and I’m glad that I did because some of the files marked to be deleted looked important. I can restore the files in the chest, but I hope that I can stop the files marked for deletion from being deleted before my next reboot. I’m holding off on rebooting for that reason!
I made a stupid mistake and let the boot scan delete a ton of files off my computer. I realized 3/4 thru that something was wrong and this couldn’t be a legit virus.
All sorts of files were deleted off my computer including personal files.
Is there any way to recover them or at least see a log of files that were deleted during the last boot scan?
Its going to take me days to reinstall everything and get back all the data I lost
Same problem i’m having I’m really not happy, as in panicy and anxious somethings seriously wrong with my system. If need be i’ll start over but I really dont want too.
This is truly awful D: Thanks avast…I’d usually say this in positivity .Because this virus scanner has helped me in the past, but it’s just one big mess today.
I hope someone can pop in and tell me if there is a logfile somewhere so I can see the deleted files. I have Windows 7 if that helps. I have no idea which log file to look at, there are so many.
And the program itself won’t give me any way to look at what went on during the last boot scan.
I am also so sorry to hear that pal! DX Avast had it’s downs from time to time with false positives, but overall progress and security is still so great.
I was wondering, the VBS Malware is flagging one and the same page, some part of opera main page, that’s normal? Although it does on different pages.
