Recently it seems my Network Inspector (run in Free Antivirus) has developed OCD :-p. What I mean is: every time I start doing something (i.e., wake up Windows) and either open, or already have open, a browser, it runs a network check ON MY HOME NETWORK as if it is a “new” unrecognized network. Under the “automatically re-scan this network” option (which I do have checked), it says “we’ll rescan your network automatically ON A DAILY BASIS…” (emphasis added by me.) My gripe is that it’s doing it, not just once every 24 hours, but as stated above it seems like every time I go to do something. Sometimes within a few minutes of the last time it did it. I don’t remember this being an annoying, seemingly constant interruption until sometime within the last few weeks. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any idea why, or what I can do to stop it?
Note: “network details” > network class = “home”, firewall profile = “trusted”.
I don’t have an answer, but I’m having the same issue. It’s been going on for a week or so.
I am hoping my issue is related to this one and will be fixed in the next update? Can you provide a date for the next update? “Avast says bogus network scanned but computer says connected normally” 2025-04-03T04:00:00Z

Possibly related to this issue, since the last update my Win 11 computer has not only been scanning “New” networks (my home network!) constantly but starting Saturday morning I was not able to reach the web unless I reset my TCP/IP stack every few hours… I was connected to my router, my other devices were all working fine (2 other computers, tablets, phones) but this computer could not connect to email or any websites unless I reset the stack. Hopefully turning off Network Inspector will fix this. Fingers crossed.
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
All you gotta do is uninstall the latest version of Avast and revert back to the previous version:
DISCLAIMER :
Downgrading to a previous version might put you at risk as the 'Engine' has
instructions that are updated in each Version of Avast and may have included
a new instruction or a re-write of instruction sets that is in the program that operates
the engine and works with the Virus Definition database a certain way (how it reads it)
and how the program applies those actions, and use certain algorithms to understand
the functions of viruses, malware, trojans, PUPs, etc., and how they interact with your
system - Avast's engine protects things in a certain way and also uses the
Definitions Database to find and neutralize threats.
You here by acknowledge that by downgrading to a previous version changes this behavior
to a prior version of instruction sets that might re-introduce a flaw in the way the
engine works with the Virus Definition Database to combat these threats, putting you at
risk of potential infection.
You agree that this is solely your responsibility should you proceed - Use caution and
common sense by using backup protection: e.g Have Malwarebytes along side Avast for
protection, utilize firewall setups, use common sense when opening files & Compressed
folders, and use protection in your browser (e.g uBlockOrigin) - Don't visit bad sites!
I will not be held liable for any damages that may occur if the user fails to do things
to secure themselves prior to downgrading.
The safe link to download the offline installer for Avast Antivirus is located here:
https://s-iavs9x.avcdn.net/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe (this is Avast’s file service server).
This link naturally will download the latest version however, you can get a previous version with this link by searching in the Archive.org database.
If you go to https://web.archive.org/ and drop the link above and search it you will find snapshots of this ( I chose March 5th) and download the version that was available at that time {Version: 25.2.6150a (build 25.2.9898.924)}
Once you do this scan it with Avast and Malwarebytes to insure it is safe (I did and it was clean).
Then uninstall the current Version of Avast, Reboot computer,
Disconnect from the internet IMPORTANT!: This is crucial to prevent Avast from auto updating to latest version once you install the older version!!!
- Install old Avast.
- Open up Avast Antivirus GUI.
- Open Menu/Settings/Update/
- Select More Options under Avast Free Antivirus updates
- Select I’ll Update it Manually
- Re-Enable Internet/WiFi
- Update your Virus Definitions
- Wait for Avast to push another update to fix this wild bug and then re-enable Avast Free Antivirus updates.
I successfully downgraded to Version 25.2.6150a (build 25.2.9898.924)
I have not gotten any spam from notifications anymore since I downgraded..
I too have been having the same issue. Every time I open my laptop back up or wake up the screen it does the same Network Scan. I have the rescan unchecked. I’ll try unchecking the New Network scan option as well. I really don’t want to have to re-install a previous version but if I get desperate enough I’m heading there. Thank you for all the suggestions!
