Essentially it shouldn’t be necessary, if you click on the link in this 24.9 topic, it should download the latest offline installation version.
That is why some people keep copies of the old version offline installation file.
So we users should now Announce when a new version is available to update, if that Announcement is not being done by Avast staff.
I belive I have seen user posting announcment of 24.10 in Japanese and French.
I don’t know why Avast staff cannot continue to do this as they did on the old forum. That way users can post back feedback for that specific version, also users like me that manually update have a trigger to go find the new version.
I agree the old announcement practice should be continued in this new Forum. As a data point, I’ve downloaded the 24.10 offline installer and set it aside. My practice is wait for the announcement, then wait for the reactions. I’m waiting for that to happen before I decide whether to install 24.10 or wait for 24.11.
It may simply be down to the turmoil of the freezing of the old, upload of the new, followed by the closure of the new forums to fine tune it. Short for resolve some usage problems
The new announcement has been posted, understandably citing the delay due to adapting to the new forum (community) software. Now I can watch the new thread for awhile to see if any concerning complaints surface.
I don’t work for Avast - so it isn’t really an announcement by Avast. Just a very likely cause for a delay. There was a period of time where there wasn’t a physical way to post in some topics
This software locks topics that hadn’t had a reply in the last 30 days (tough when the forum was down for upgrade and a period of maintenance exceeding 30 days) - something which blocked some ongoing topics.
However, that shouldn’t have applied to new topics. But the actual physical time the forum was down a long time.
