I updated and restarted. After restart, I didn’t get the pop up that announced the new features and updates like it usually does after my computer restarts.

I went and looked at the version numbers, and in the About area, it still shows 24.12.9725a as the version but with build 25.1.9816.762.

In the Windows Apps & Features list, it does at least show that it’s 25.1

I did a repair but that didn’t fix anything

Is this the case for anyone else? Is this a UI glitch?

Would appreciate any info on whether or not this release addresses the ICARUS.EXE proliferation problems ~ THX

Did another restart and this time I got the pop up from Avast that shows the new changes, and my ‘About’ section now shows what I assume is the correct version number:

It does not. I’ve been running it for about a week now and it is exactly the same as 24.12 for me.

Monitoring.

Why Icarus is not part of offline installer? Is so annoying after installation, Avast downloads Icarus and need additional restart.

Why this forum is so broken and chaotic? I still got errors, access denied, cloudflare errors etc. especially when I hit back button in web browser. Also if I click on some topic in this forum, it shows me last post instead first. Is really pain use this forum. I don’t know what this strange habit is these days, breaking something that works perfectly just to make it look different. Old forum was superior, clear and functional.

Avast has become Comodo = buggy software. :worried:

@TheOwner The whole system is broken, including the software. I think Avast has lost control of the ship… Scotty! beam me up now! :astonished:

Updated to 25.1 Free (25.1.9816a build 25.1.9816.762) today and Restarted.
Ran into a problem immediately. Windows Security icon showing Yellow and Avast icon showing redX.
“Web Shield is turned OFF”.

From UI invited to turn Web Shield ON. Lasted 1 second and then turned itself OFF again.
Repeated that cycle a few times with same result i.e. Web Shield cannot be turned ON.

Did a second Windows 10 Restart.
Same problem. Attempted to turn Web Shield ON via UI. Failed as before.

Decided to try RepairApp via UI>Menu>Settings>Troubleshooting.
After repair. Web Shield = OFF.

Tried again via UI to change Web Shield to ON. This time it appears to have stuck.
I will do another Restart.to check this is now working OK.

I hope noone else updating to 25.1 encounters this problem as it is not straightforward fix.

I haven’t had that happen to me with 25.1

Just in case, test your web shield with the Avast test link

http://www.avast.com/eng/test-url-blocker.html

That link results in a ‘Page not found’ for me.

Thats interesting as i get this:

dalm, forgot to open the see details. now im just getting a white page so i guess its done its job and blocked it.

Snap a big 404 error but it is a pretty 404 error

Yeah I got 404 too from Dinobot2’s URL (also no alert here ).
For testing web shield, this URL also works:

http://web-shield-test.avast.com/

that worked

Check your Avast system tray Icon for a blue dot and see if you have any notifications in the UI.

No blue dot, no notification. The link still gives me the fancy 404 page.

Perhaps an additional component of Avast is responsible. I only run File shield + Web shield + Mail shield.

This works. I get the blacklist alert.

That failed for me.

Whilst there was no Avast alert - it appeared to have blocked as there is an Avast Notification - but nothing in the way of a physical alert.

It has taken three attempts just to post this edit - bloody forum software,
