PC Health Problems - Your PC is vulnerable.....User Account Control UAC

Hey,

As per the title Avast is telling me that User Account control is turned off:

PC Health Problems - Your PC is vulnerable to unwanted changes. Turn on user account control to prevent unwanted changes.

Except I have User Account Control turned on (or so it looks).

Anyone have any ideas?

Paul

What version of Avast do you have installed?
What Operating System? Service Pack or version?

Thanks for replying so quickly-

Avast - 18.4.2338 (build 18.4.3895.0), definitions version 180523-2

-Windows 10 Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134

Sorry, I’m remiss for not specifying what program:

  • Premier or Ultimate
  • Internet Security
  • Pro
  • Free

Free version

Latest version of OEM release for Windows 10 is 1803 build 17134.48.

You have what appears to be a Fast Ring Insider build – 10.0.17134 Build 17134. You’ve not moved to version 1803?

Screenshot of UAC warning would help here. (In any case, merely running in a Standard User account will help mitigate your issue as you would need an administrative user password to make system changes.)

Windows update hasn’t offered me an update, so I haven’t updated.

I appreciate the advice, but seeing as I often install and uninstall software I’m happy being on the administrator account. I’ve never has any issues before and it seems weird to have to change the whole way I use the computer just because of some weird thing happening with Avast which I assume is an error?

I’ve attached a screenshot in case that somehow helps.

Well I updated windows. Re ran Avast and still have the same issue.

No takers for my issue then?

Sounds like a sales pitch to purchase Avast’s Cleanup Pro.
I don’t install Avast cleanup.

I like your cynicism Bob ;D

Not cynic at all. Avast does need to make money to stay in business.
Don’t know too many people that work for free.

Well I agree with what you’re saying but no one else has come forward to say they’ve experienced the same thing.

I’m guessing it’s some broken registry entry or something but it would be nice if someone could offer a suggestion.

Bob I understand what you’re saying, but I’m genuinely concerned that there is some issue here?

Sorry but I don’t see an issue and don’t know what you’re concerned about.

Concerned that at some level of the operating system that UAC is compromised? It doesn’t even work as a sales pitch for Avast since they’ve already told me what the issue is and how to ‘solve’ it ?

Precisely.

A sales pitch by Avast may indicate a problem where there may not be one. Almost always the ‘problem’ is solvable only by buying their program.

As bob3160 said, uninstall your unwanted feature. Problem solved.

Yet not a single other person has come forward to say they’ve also seen this UAC message?
