Please help me. I have the Win32 Malware-gen on my PC. It's popping up at least every 3 minutes from AVAST antivirus, it's very annoying. I followed every single step from this post that I've read (link is below), but virus is still coming back. It is like recycling. I tried to post the txt from MB, OTL, & ASWMBR, but I don't know how. Please help me remove this scary and annoying virus....
WARNINGUnfortunately one or more of the infections I have identified are Backdoor Trojans, IRCBots or other Malware capable of stealing very important information. You need to stop using all Internet Banking sites, change passwords to all sites with sensitive information from a clean computer and phone your bank to inform them that you may be a victim of identify theft. More often than not, we advise users that a full reinstallation of their Operating System is the only way to ensure that their computer will ever be 100% clean again.
Unfortunately I have found what is known as the ZeroAccess rootkit on your system. It is an especially nasty infection that can take quite some time to clean as well as may have damaged your system files itself. As a warning, during the cleaning (if you choose to do so) you may lose internet access with this computer and in the end we may need to reinstall the operating system anyway depending on the extent of the infection.
If you would like to format and reinstall your Operating System please let me know and we can assist you with that.
If you would like to continue with the cleaning, please continue with the following instructions and I will be more than happy to help.
Please download and run ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT). This program allows you to keep a complete backup of your registry and restore it when needed. The standard registry backup options that come with Windows back up most of the registry but not all of it. ERUNT however creates a complete backup set, including the Security hive and user related sections. ERUNT is easy to use and since it creates a full backup, there are no options or choices other than to select the location of the backup files. The backup set includes a small executable that will launch the registry restore if needed. **Remember if you are using Windows Vista as your operating system right-click the executable and Run as Administrator.
If you are running Malwarebytes 1.6 or better, please disable it for the duration of this run.
To disable Malwarebytes
[*]Open the scanner and select the Protection tab
[*]Remove the tick from “Start Protection Module with Windows” as seen below
[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot when it is done
[*]Then run a new scan and post a new OTL log ( don’t check the boxes beside LOP Check or Purity this time )
Please let’s proceed with the cleaning process first, for I have so many perosnal files and documents that I need from this PC. Is it safe from this point to start transferring my personal documents & files to a separate external hard drive?
I’m sorry I didn’t follow your instruction precisely. I clicked on the quick scan instead of run fix. Anyhow, I did everything correctly now and attached is the log files.
Download Combofix from either of the links below, and save it to your desktop. Link 1 Link 2
Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop
IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here
Right-Click and Run as Administrator on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.
[*]Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt for further review.
I tried to run Combofix after I disabled AVAST AV, but Combofix pop-up keeps on saying an active scanner (Norton Internet Security) needs to be disabled first. I don’t have Norton installed in my system. I even downloaded Norton removal tool from Symantec website but still showing up. What should I do? Attached is a snapshot of the pop-up.
Combofix is still running. It states that a “system file is infected!! Attempting to restore C:\Windows\system32\Services.exe”. It’s been at least two hours and still no changes on the screen. Is this normal?
Combofix is done running. I’m about to reboot after I post this from the same PC. Apparently internet is still working. I think my PC is clean now. Thanks for all your help. Let me know if there’s anything else I need to do. Attached is the combofix log files.
**If you are using a 64bit system please use either of the following links for your download instead: Link 1 Link 2
[*]Right-click and Run as Administrator SystemLook.exe to run it.
[*]Copy the content within the following codebox into the main textfield:
:filefind
*Services.exe
[*]Click the Look button to start the scan.
[*]When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply. Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt
[*]Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before following the steps below. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause “unpredictable results”.
[*]Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
[*]ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
[*]When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.
CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
