I just got the pop up now asking me to reactivate it as it apparently would expire in 12 days, and I was able to do so. I just exited that “unique offer” or whatever screen and my free avast was active.

But didn’t they make it so that you didn’t have to register or regularly activate it anymore? Why are they bringing this back?

I believe it is a way to force you to purchase the key, which I think is wrong.

For me that isn’t logical, people are more likely to drop avast than purchase.

Some have already mentioned they are looking for other options.

On second thought, you’re actually right.

This should be fixed now -

I restarted my PC several times but in vain, all this to force me to subscribe to a premium subscription

Also see this topic, as there appears to be some issues where the fix hasn’t worked.

The Avast Team are asking for support files to be sent to try to resolve this.
