I am disgusted with your scare tactics.
Had 10 warnings in 1 notice on GUI. Solution buy “Breachguard”
Had another 10 warnings in another notice Solution buy " AntiTrack"
Even 1 warning your bank details may be on the darkweb.
I use Avast Premium Security.
Avast VPN
Avast Bank mode when banking.
I have been using different avast apps over 20 years.
To believe there warnings the above is not protecting me.
I am now seriously thinking of changing my protection.
Totaly agree. theve gone overboard this time.
WTF are you playing at Avast.
so my chipset dated from 2016 is out of date and your now reporting a later version in 2018 . first time ever reported by avast.
and the bottom line is they want me to get driver updater for £21.48 a year. so why does the program i use show im fully upto date with drivers.
and next cleanup premium for £35.88 a year while the program i use shows clean as a whistle.
and thirdly breach gaurd. all in one day.
And to make it even more annoying ive had a win 11 laptop since christmas but never used it as i think 11 is sh@te.
antivirus and nord vpn installed and nothing else with only 3 times connected to internet and as soon as i turned it on i get these (and no that is not my IP address)
I take it that this was after Running the so called Smart Scan - to my mind this is a promotion of Avast paid products. Whilst there is a perceived security weakness in the notification.
I have got by without any of these i all of my time using computers from way back to Amstrad PCW in the mid 1980s. Then I bought a very early PC with Win 3, My last 4 years in the Army as a computer systems analyst programmer.
Then a new PC Win 95, then Win 98, skipped win 2000, win XP, a very short stint on Win 7 (second 10" notebook computer) and then Win10 my current, hold out version.
I have been using Avast Free for over 21 years now and never felt the requirement
I had run a network scan only on my 10 pc as BT keeps dropping and finally found out yesterday its not in the house but exchange issue after an engineer visited but couldnt fix it. got a temp BT EE wifi box arriving today.
turned on 10 today and they are their again, 2 critical issues.
on 11 pc only ever ran a scan the first time i installed avast. its only been turned on 3 times and no scans run. adverts were there yesterday and just turning on again now to check and a restart was needed so i guess the latest update. now a popup asking for a network scan but no adverts yet.
just had a new popup saying complete your purchase to save 35% but gone before i could get a screenshot.
I’m glad others have flagged this.
I spend close to 100 GBP a year for protection that they effectively tell me is worthless because I don’t have the full suite of products. I suspect it would be the same if I had all the additional apps!
I get constant flags like the ones shown in this thread and now the updates regularly dump shortcuts on my desktop for some reason. NONE of this used to happen. Avast used to be much cheaper and sat quietly in the background doing its job.
Now I feel I have someone looking over my shoulder shouting at me and telling me to fork out more money all the time.
Video downloader has been broken for months and we were told that it would be fixed this April. Now they don’t know when it will be. My guess is that it will just get ditched.
Its interesting that all these issues started when Avast was bought out a few years ago.
Perhaps one day these companies will learn that they can retain or even gain more customers if they just backed off and gave us what we want rather than what they want in the name of profit.
Take note Avast.
I use YouTube to find reviews of anti-virus programs, and similar search parameters to find which companies offer. So far, after 39 years of computers bought and programs sought, I don’t know of any one of them solving all the things they advertise they can do, so I guess it all comes down to reading reviews, crossing your fingers, and taking a chance that the next one isn’t worse that what I alrready have. I liked BitDefender until it got so aggressive that it deleted system files that were necessary to boot my computer. It’s also a curious thing that Avast continues to have updates that solve things that I wasn’t sure they could have done when the program was created. I ended up taking a leap of faith with Avast One. Avast Premium Security started creating more and more smaller programs that I thought could have been rolled into one and it became too difficult to keep up with all those sub-programs. Some features were add-ons after I had Avast Premium: breachguard, Anti-Track, etc. There were teaser rates on those extra programs to begin with to get me on board and I started to feel like a downed man on his back while a hoard of Jurassic beasts jumped on me, one by one in a creek of flowing water.
First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.
I’m sure there is a question in there somewhere, but I can’t find it.
I have been happily using Avast Antivirus Free (not Avast One) for just over 21 years and that suits my needs.
However you should be able to tone down the offers etc in your Personal Privacy (you have more options in the Premium version) and Notifications settings.
I was trying to commiserate with other users of Avast programs. So, right, no question. I finally had all of my programs still having time on them into Avast One. For about a year I was being told by the Avast One program that my Windows OS wasn’t up to date. After updating with Windows Update, Avast never recognized it. Finally had to get help from Windows support to solve that one, and then Avast would accept the changes and respond correctly. It took a total re-load of W11 from Microsoft to make that solution work.
I have never tried Avast One (even Free), whilst it has more components than Avast Antivirus free, it has less configurability. That is why I stuck with Avast Antivirus free, I like to be able to configure Avast based on my needs.
To me more scare tactics.
I know I could put it into limited mode.
If it was just a pop recommending AntiTrack Premium, I would not have been informed I was being tracked.
same again as me 10 days after the last time but mine was performance not tracking.
tracking showed up about 3 hours later so lets see if i get the same.
now says i have 11gb junk when 10 days ago it was 3gb even though i done a thorough clean on friday.
OMG! get rid of cc cleaner now. there were some horror stories a few years back and i deleted cc immediately after that and downloaded the free Wisecare 365 which seems to do a good job even though avast adverts still tell me ive got 20gb of junk.
My win 11 which gets them as well even though its bare bone and never had any use or programs installed except avast, nord and wisecare cleaner had junk, tracker, cleanup adverts.
Ive got a vista gaming pc that im going to test Linux on then in October change my trusted 12 year old win 10 to Linux as well and if that works well get rid of the crap win 11 to Linux once and for all to get rid of windows and microsoft.
Have you tried silent mode? to ignore all those ‘scare’ tactics, I have silent mode turned on, right click the Avast icon in the taskbar and select ‘Silent Mode’, since I’ve activated silent mode, I don’t get those push up warnings, and whenever I see a number in the notifications area of Avast GUI, I just 'Dismiss; them all.
