Service program update 7.0.1456

Thank you for Avast Free7.0.1456

Avast?
I am amazed by the number of ‘problems’ that are attributed to Avast. Every conceivable problem is laid at the door of the Avast organisation, when really the cause can lie elsewhere.
As I have previously posted, I have a lot of experience of ‘sorting out’ PC’s for people - and the configurations that some have made are beyond belief!
There may well be the occasional quirk - but why (on the other extreme) do people like me never have a problem - surely Im not the only one.
Agreed version 7 had it’s starting problems - but these were quickly resolved. I wish people would remember that Avast is FREE.
If you have a problem, go and spend some money on one of the highly hyped AV’s if you feel that will provide an answer to all your problems. I have a feeling that once the initial euphoria wears off, you will see just how good Avast really is.
It’s Avast for me
Thank you to all at Avast for a wonderful FREE AV program.

In Poland, it can not update avast 7 free

Installed Avast 1456 at 6 machines (4 win7 and 2 winXP computers).
Everything worked fine.

There state why it won’t update, what errors are displayed ?

updates all the time, but it is old version

Please do as suggested and start your own new topic and we will try and help you, it will just get lost in this topic.

1451 >:(
1456 ;D

WebRep does not always

As has been stated before the webrep isn’t necessarily Program related (so should be in its own new topic so it can be investigated), the webrep servers can be down so wouldn’t work. Nor do you say what browser and version this is relates to.

updated avast free from v7.0.1451 to v7.0.1456, stable on windows 7 32 bit sp1.

 THE HANG IN FIREFOX 13.1, WHEN RUN UNDER WINDOWS 7 SP1 x64, OCCURS AS A CONFLICT WITH SHOCKWAVE FLASH PLUGIN VERSION 11.3.300.262 WHEN IT IS ENABLED. I DON’T KNOW IF IT OCCURS WITH OTHER VERSIONS OF FLASH - THIS IS THE ONLY ONE I’VE USED SINCE MIGRATING TO FIREFOX. I HAVE DISABLED IT AND RE-ENABLED BEHAVIORAL SHIELD - EVERYTHING WORKS NOW! CAN YOU PLEASE LOOK INTO WHAT MAY BE CAUSING THIS? (PERHAPS ONE MORE UPDATE TO .1457?).

(P.S. I AM RUNNING AVAST .1456 + FIREFOX 13.1 + FLASH PLUGIN 11.3.300.262 UNDER WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL SP3 ON MY LAPTOP. THERE WAS NEVER A PROBLEM THERE, SO THIS CONFLICT IS PROBABLY RESTRICTED TO WINDOWS 7.)

Okay, I’m still somewhat new to this whole support forum, so if I need to just start a new topic, let me know. I updated to 1456 and after shutting down/starting up (only have it on when using), it let me log in but went to a black screen with only the pointer. Let it sit for a couple of minutes, restarted several times, no luck. Finally let it sit for as long as it wanted and it finally got through, but am afraid of it doing it again. However, with both this update and the last one (1426, I believe?), my computer’s startup is quiet sluggish. First, it takes longer to finish bringing up the gadgets and things, and then after a few minutes of running will freeze for anywhere from 5-20 minutes before behaving itself. Haven’t uninstalled it as I got the paid version and don’t want to lose it, but would like to know if this is a known issue for avast! and if so, what to do about fixing it.
Also, even with all of the quirks, I will never switch to the other companies. I am quite happy overall. Keep up the good work!

I too am having problems with Flash Player / You Tube videos (can’t play them)…just froze Firefox, had to shut it down with Task Manager. Cause?

Avast .1456 + Firefox 13.1 + Flash Player 11.3.300.265 (test version) XP SP3 Home

Excellent here also.

This is strange, has anyone noticed after 1456 with XP SP3 that their right click context menu for their desktop and start menu items become invisible? Menu items only become visible if you mouse over them.

No, see images, click to expand.

The only reason I registered is because of ts1sds’s message. I’m experiencing the same problem. Build 1451 was a disaster, but build 1456 seemed to have solved the problem. Unfortunately, 1456 seems to be a disaster as well since it causes Firefox to hang. Normal websites are no problem, but when I try to visit a website with Flash content, Firefox hangs. Disabling avast solves the problem.

I’m working with:

avast! Free Antivirus 7.0.1456
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
Mozilla Firefox 13.0.1
Shockwave Flash Plugin 11.3.300.262

Users claiming “all is well” or “there are no problems”, you are NOT helping. There IS a problem and avast! needs to fix this problem (please!).

So… anyone having the problem with Flash in Firefox, can you please confirm that the problem goes away when you stop the Behavior Shield in avast?

Thanks
Vlk

Although i may be posting this in the wrong area i am in need of help.
A few months back i downloaded a free version of avast from Majorgeeks.com.
But a while ago it had an update that nearly crashed my laptop. But i was able to save it with a system restor, but in doing so it corrupted my avast so i can no longer use avast, nor uninstall it. I would love some help thnk you.

This will most likely need a clean reinstall and we can show you that easier when not buried in this large topic.
