Other options are Paragon and Acronis, but you have to look for promos and deals on the net…
When you install Paragon Backup & Recovery 2011 Free on your PC always create a bootable CD, and yes you still need a bootable CD to restore a backup it a must, the great thing I like about Paragon Backup & Recovery 2011 Free you can check your bootable CD and your backup image files for errors just to make sure everything okay in case you might need to restore them back onto your PC.
They have a check recovery disk wizard to verify recovery media for integrity and ability to boot from, and they have a check archive integrity wizard to verify backup archives for consistency. When I create a backup image I always check my image files through check archive integrity wizard to verify backup archives for consistency for errors for safe keeping it a must, so far I haven’t had any errors or major backup and restore problem at all so far Paragon Backup & Recovery 2011 Free has deliver the most reliable backup software without any bug problems. You must understand if your system is not set-up correctly your backup software can fail, everybody computers has a different set-up no matter what OS you have some can pass the backup image and some can fail.
That is why Paragon Backup & Recovery 2011 Free has a check recovery disk wizard to verify recovery media for integrity and ability to boot from, and they have a check archive integrity wizard to verify backup archives for consistency which is great.
Avastfan1 when you install a backup software on W7 and you create a bootable CD from W7 the bootable CD belong to that current OS, for another words if you install a backup software on XP you cannot used the same bootable CD from the one you already created from W7. Why each bootable CD has a different driver set-up for each OS version so you have to create another bootable CD for XP, and if you have 3 computers running the same OS like W7 and yes you can used the same bootable CD for W7 only not for XP.
