I fail to see what could go wrong with simply trying to install AIK, it will either install or it will refuse. No way of knowing until you try.

I would urge caution trying to create a WinPE rescue disk with a legacy version of AIK.

Edit: This looks kinda scary otherwise I’ll jump on the plane to EaseUS belt the crap out of them :-\

Seems promising the WinPE CD ability to backup/restore.
Also the network target folder.
I’ll see if I can manage to boot the iso from a multi-iso boot USB drive I have (http://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/).

@ Tech: Have you created a WinPE rescue CD? Which operating system was the pc running?

Just to re-cap for you Speedy:

  1. Download WAIK 3.0 from here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=5753

  2. Mount the WAIK iso file(or burn it to a DVD whatever you prefer) and run the install(install MSXML and .NET Framework if you don’t have them already) with selecting Windows AIK Setup and proceed with the install.

  3. Now follow the instructions on how to proceed in EaseUS Todo: http://www.todo-backup.com/products/features/winpe-bootable-disk.htm

Not sure if sharing WinPE rescue disks is legal, infact i am pretty certain it is not.

The WinPE rescue cd was created on a Windows 7 machine.

Oh ok i thought you created that rescue disk on your XP machine, i don’t have XP over here to try it(desktop is on 7 and so is my netbook). But if that FAQ page on EaseUS page is correct, WAIK 3.0 can be installed on XP. I am also googling that to confirm it and every link i come across appears to confirm that it indeed can be installed on XP. So no need to use a Win Vista/7 PC to create that WinPE rescue disk. :slight_smile:

The link in an earlier post was for a legacy version of Win AIK. It can be installed on XP.

The question is if a WinPE rescue disk can be created with the legacy version of AIK.

Why would you want to when WAIK 3.0 apparently can be installed on XP ? I posted that link BEFORE i found out that WAIK 3.0 also installs on XP…

Why don’t you try installing WAIK 3.0 on your XP machine and try it for yourself ?
