Please see this https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=225874.msg1497886#msg1497886.

Oh i understood thanks mate. I´m in Portugal so propably for the beta gui is not one of the selected countries.

Thank you

after update my browser (firefox) didnt allow me to open any url - wont work.

workaround: disabled web-protection module.

i guess thats a bad workaround and hopefully avast will fix this - its inacceptable and was the reason that i swapped from Kaspersky to avast cause facing same issue with KAV - no issues till this update with this url-probs. after update all sites blocked …

Please fix this - TY

Edit: i also tried to uninstall/reinstall avast premier - same issues - only work if i disable the web protection

So what all did THIS update break? Is this one a ‘safe’ update that won’t cause BSOD with any VPN? Are any of the old scan options back? Do I need to hold my breath for Avast to not crash my laptop with this one? After the fiasco of the last update and all the bugs that came with it, I’m VERY hesitant to even update my program…
Update: After doing a clean install, this version did fix the BSOD when running another company’s VPN. However, it has new bugs. Scheduled scans do not work at all. I have a smart scan set to run at 5am every day and generate a log. So far, for 2 days now, no scan has run at all. It makes me wonder if my program is doing anything.

Instead of asking questions, update and answer those questions.

When you install the checkbox for blocking sites, any sites typed in the address bar of the browser are blocked.

Can not choose bootscan in traditional Chinese version,it does not show up!!

Could you please tell us which are those selected countries, and when the new UI will be available for all countries? Thank You.

Custom virus scan with shutdown after is not working. Came home and pc was still on and running. FAIL

Already reported to Avast.

I solve it by install the forum version instead of Avast support website version.

But now have a new problem, Behavior protection report does not record start and end time of service.

I found a bug with Avast Free 19.3.2369, shields only install, Win 8.1. Previous 19.1.2360 uninstalled & full offline clean install 19.3.2369.

When typing chkdsk c: /f /x in elevated cmd (or powershell), on reboot autochk doesn’t run. Confirmed via event viewer boot logs, no wininit executed on boot. Reboot shows press key to abort scanning, then gets to scanning but proceeds directly to windows boot. Never shows “scanning and repairing drive (c): xx% complete.” Reverted to 19.1.2360 executes correctly again. Haven’t tried 19.2.2364. Initially I though it was probably the March kb4489881 patch…

Custom scans do not ummm scan. I have a custom scan set to run a smart scan daily at 5:00am and I clicked the option to generate the report file. This scan has been in place for 2 days. No scans have been completed at all. Am I even protected??? What else did this update break…
Running Windows 8.1 64 bit. Latest version of Avast was a fresh install to rid myself of the BSOD caused from the previous update.
This is getting quite frustrating!!!

@ smokedawg1281,

If you want to see if avast is protecting you try the following links: All test links trigger real-time avast defenses which automatically protect you.
https://www.amtso.org/security-features-check/
Use the Desktop solution if you are running a laptop or desktop. None of the 6 tests will harm your system. Report back.
(Some links will take about 15-20 seconds to trigger an active avast block, so give it a little time)

If you would rather not, then do a Repair of Avast followed by a reboot. See attached below: (Click Repair to begin)

@mchain
Thank you very much. I’ll check those out. Somehow, after deleting the scan and creating a new custom scan, it worked this morning and I got the report afterwards. I’ll still check out those links.

Since this update, the following has returned:

It occurs on a random, unexpected basis. Not on every boot.

Hi! There is third version with 2 AV launch component in Windows start up. Are you going to fix it?

This new version has bricked the Windows ScanDisk program causing it to error off. I have tried it on many Windows 7 PRO Optiplex 3020, 7020, etc machines with both conventional and SSD drives and NONE will run. It took me a while to isolate the program that did it and it is this new Avast Free update.

Just try running ScanDisk and you will see what I mean…

Please fix it. I love Avast and have run it years and recommended it to many many people over the years who are still running it today.

Thanks for a great product!

Since that last update, my Avast Internet Security is down (You are unprotected) and no matter what I try, it says “Loading… This shouldn’t take long” (only button available is the exit button). Except it never ends…

I tried to update and repair Avast 3 times by going through the uninstall panel, but nothing will do.

What can I do?
