I’m not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this question or not but does anyone know of any software that runs a virtual machine without a full blown copy of windows operating system. I have student copies but not full copies of windows.
I may have another idea. I don’t know if this is considered Pirating. However, if used once I don’t think there will be an issue.
You can download free programs like disk2vhd. This copies all file off the harddrive it’s running off of. So say you have 1 drive w/ your OS and documents, it’d copy anything and save it as .vhd. It makes it so the Virtual Machine can boot into Windows w/ your files. Very handy for scamming the scammers. Hehehe.
If you’re looking for a clean copy of windows to run the programs, then I have no clue where to get a full version other then something like Future Shop.
Another idea that came to my mind and will cost you nothing is using Linux.
I don’t know much about Linux but would I run it in conjunction with Windows. Would I use IE as my browser. The reason I’m trying to do is because I want an earlier version of Windows, I have 8.1 and more importantly I want an earlier version of IE, preferably IE9 rather than IE11 which is what I have. I need this to work in a specific program that has compatibility issues with IE11 & Win 8.1. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
i’m going to be MIA for a week though so will check in when I get back.
Sorry i must chime in here.
Im finding the arrogance and attitude of the so-called “avangelist” in this thread very disturbing.Instead of being critical of other peoples abilities, why not offer some useful advice.
If i were the original poster i would have dumped this thread a long while ago.
I have been reading several other threads involving “eddy the avangelist” and it always falls down to personal criticism.
Can we all see the common denominator here…?
These forums need a form of “chief whip” to keep these so-called avangelists in order.

I am just trying to get some help with this issue and am grateful for whatever help comes my way.
If the application is not mend for W8, run it in compatible mode.
I did try that, I have the website selected to run in compatibility mode, doesn’t work! Also when running Win8 I would go into developer tools, set it to IE9 and it worked. I don’t have that option in Win 8.1 or if I do I don’t know where to find it.
F12 Developer tools are still in 8.1 via the tools icon at the top right of your IE browser.
I didn’t clarify F12 developer tools properly, I did find it but didn’t know that document mode was previous versions of IE so I didn’t try it. I won’t have time today to try it, I will be unavailable for a week so will have to wait on this til I get back. I’m also going to check out Linux, can’t hurt I’m sure! Thanks everyone for your input!
