what happened to my blue wirling ball

I use the free home version and I just updated my coverage with a newer version and now I don’t see the famous spinning blue ball. What happened and how do I get it back. I get updates and ran a memory check last night on the C drive and got back a report that all was fine in terms of no virus’s, so I have to believe I still have coverage.

Yea it looks like someone splattered the ball and turned it orange,lol,I liked the blue ball much better.

There was much debate (heated at times) about this as the original icon closely matched another copyrighted one I believe. So it had to change and since the website was undergoing a big style revamp also with a colour scheme the icon colour was going to be orange and old ‘a’ had to be changed too.

I was just thinking the other day that maybe I needed to update my avatar to reflect v5.0. But, why? I’ve always liked it and now it will be nostalgic.

Stay with avast! V5 as avast! v4.8 will not be updated anymore and will not be supported after 2010 ends.

Kenny I was referring to the box thats pictured in this thread a few posts ago,(one of your posts) its no big thing,think its called a “skin”,I couldn’t remember that name yesterday,anyway the original “skin” that came with Advast when I first started using it was the one your showing,I always liked that one but no longer have it. I went to a web site and just found a different one I use but I’d rather have that back. BTW all,I finally broke down and installed 5.0 today,but did it over 4.8,everything looks good so far.

That is the Simple User Interface, used to run on-demand scans, which uses skins to change the display format.

If you have two blue balls, you have been out in the cold too long or are still running avast 4.8 as it is 5.0 that has the change of avast icon.
