Trojan horses are often a component of spyware, so both.
You’ll will need to run a boot time scan with avast! if your operating system will allow it: right click the avast! icon, select Start avast! anti-virus. If the program detects a Trojan in memory, it will give you the option of scheduling a boot time scan: accept and reboot. If no virus is detected, right click the screen and select ‘schedule a boot time scan’.
what freewheelinfrank mean is your system… like, do you use windows (98. XP, or 2000), Apple Macintosh, or Linux, which one do you use for your computer?
Anyway, have you send a copy of that infected file to virus@avast.com ?, i think it will help,
BTW, my english aren’t so good either, so don’t hesitate too much…
Right click avast! icon
select Start avast! Anti-Virus
Right click screen
Select Schedule boot-time scan
[Tick Advanced options
Cange Ask for action to Move infected file to chest]
Click on Schedule
Click ‘Yes’ to restart your system
Avast is not a dedicated Spyware/adware remover, its much more of a virus/trojan remover.
Anyway, IstBar runs and infects your machine by putting many many processes, files, regkeys and .dlls onto your machine, have you noticed a slowdown on your PC lately?
I would suggest that you install, update and run both Ad-Aware SE and Spybot
Really very important that you update these programs before you run them, or you won’t be using their full potential.
Hi Lee, good to see you back. Where have you been?
a2line has run the progs you mentioned, although I agree an update and scan would be a good idea: IstBar downloads a world of s*** from xxxtoolbar.com.
a2line: Can you please confirm that you have done a boot time scan?

Interesting, a2line, are you sure your checking the boxes before clicking remove on on Ad-aware and Spybot?
If problems still persist its pretty safe to say the problem lyes with System Restore, so if yours using Windows ME or XP follow the instructions HERE, then reuse the above programs.
